A Big Thank You with Painted Play

I love to break-in a new stamp set.  When I picked up Painted Play from Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Annual Catalog, I have to admit that I wasn’t sure how I would use the set.  I opened it up, selected some colors and got to work.  Here’s my card with this new, fun, crayon-inspired look:

  • Paint Play.  I love the crayon-inspired look of these flowers. You can really have fun with these images to make a childlike project, but there’s a certain maturity to the images, too.  With the right colors and placement, you can transform these shapes beyond what you initially think they can be used for.  They are fun shapes to be used as non-flower images, too!  Don’t feel limited by what you think the stamp set is.  🙂  Here’s a look at Paint Play:

After I had stamped the corner of fresh flowers, I needed a big, bold sentiment that would fit with these flowers.  This oversized “thank you so much” from Thankful Thoughts gave me exactly what I wanted.  I stamped it in a sold Basic Gray for a fun sentiment on this fun card.  Here’s a look at Thankful Thoughts:

  • Stamping Off.  If you want to achieve a lighter concentration of a color when you stamp, you can stamp off once – or twice – or three times – on scrap paper before stamping onto your project.  The Flirty Flamingo flowers on this card are a combination of two stamps – the solid background is stamped off once for a lighter shade, which the swirls are stamped in their full glory.  The Fresh Fig images (mostly filler on this card) were also stamped off once before stamping them here for a lighter, softer feel.  Together, they make a beautiful backdrop, don’t you think?
  • Three Colors.  Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight are bright and cheery on this card, while Fresh Fig and Basic Gray offer a bit of depth to the colors.  If you like this combination of Basic Gray, Fresh Fig and Flirty Flamingo, please save this:Stampin' Up!
