Woo Hoo! It’s time for another CASE the Designer Challenge with the Global Design Project. There are so many places to find inspiration for the project we make. I love the opportunity to create a project that’s inspired by the art of my fellow team members on GDP – always a joy! This week we are CASEing a gorgeous Dragonfly Dreams project by Tanja Kolar, a talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in Germany. Here’s my card:And here’s the banner for the Global Design Project challenge that inspired my card:If you want to read more about Tanja’s beautiful card on her blog (and if you are fluent in German), CLICK HERE.
When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own. When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all. I created a clean and crisp card using the same layout as Tanja – and I added a beautiful, flying insect. Who doesn’t love flying insects?
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- You Move Me. Have you seen this butterfly before? It’s beautiful, right? The butterfly is a part of the Move Me Thinlits that coordinate with the You Move Me stamp set. The butterfly is composed of a Thinlit that cuts out the intricate designs on the butterfly’s wings and a Framelit that cuts out the border of the butterfly. Here’s a look at this You Move Me bundle:
This bundle is quite amazing – you can create images that appear to flutter as you slide them past a magic window. Sounds crazy, I know. Here’s a look at Stampin’ Up!’s fun video that shows you how this bundle works:
- Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper. While I showcased the butterfly on a 2-1/2″ square of Soft Sky that mimics the color of the card base, it’s the larger 3-1/2″ square of Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper that really pops on this card. I adore the watercolored circles – such an artistic look for very little work. The colors are gorgeous, and I couldn’t wait to work with them. Here’s a look at the patterns and colors in this wonderful pack of papers: If you love this paper as much as I do, be sure to check out my suggested color combinations for Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper – you can see it here.
- Great Color Combination. I pulled the colors for this card straight from the page of Designer Series Paper I featured in the design. Easy! I love this combination of greens and blue. So soft and sweet. If you like this combination, too, please save this:
Stamp Sets: Oh So Eclectic Papers: Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper, Soft Sky, Thick Whisper White, Emerald Envy Inks: Emerald Envy Accessories: Move Me Thinlits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian
I love this layout, but especially love the color combination!
Love the small sentiment which gives a soft quiet message. Beautiful colors!
This color combo is fantastic Brian and the card as a whole is fabulous. Hopefully you are at home by now and resting from what must have been an amazing journey. Can’t wait to see your photos.
Ditto on all the comments above! Beautiful card Brian.
I adore that butterfly . . . maybe giving second thoughts to this bundle1
What a fabulous alternate use of the ‘Move Me’ bundle, Brian! I love the colour combination; so bright and cheerful!
Beautiful CASE, Brian, and love that butterfly! Your colours are amazing!
This card is stunning! Your color choices work so well in particular the Emerald Envy against the Soft Sky. I’m in love with this bundle.
