After receiving a copy of Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Holiday Catalog on the Incentive Trip to Thailand last week and after carefully studying and admiring every page since then, my head has been stuck in the Christmas clouds. I can’t stop thinking about Christmas cards. Since I can’t yet show you projects with the new sets, I’ve reached for some great sets that are in the Annual Catalog – there’s still a great collection of Christmas products there. THis week’s color challenge for the Global Design Project – Crumb Cake, Berry Burst and Wild Wasabi gave me a perfect opportunity to create a fun Christmas card. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
- Santa’s Sleigh and Christmas Pines. This card features two returning favorites from Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Holiday Catalog that were carried over into the 2017 Annual Catalog. I created a fun background of simple presents with Crumb Cake, Berry Burst and Wild Wasabi from Santa’s Sleigh:
I added the gorgeous sentiment from Christmas Pines:
- Tag! You’re CASE’d. The background of my card was inspired by a tag on page 119 of the 2017 Annual Catalog. I love the way these simple packages line up to create a fun pattern. I assigned each package shape to a color and started with a Berry Burst package in the center of the Whisper White cardstock panel and worked my way from there. With careful planning, it’s easy to balance between three shapes/three colors. Here’s a look at the tag that inspired me to reach for the presents in Santa’s Sleigh:
- 2-1/4″ Circle Punch. While I adore Framelits and Thinlits, I love my punches. I wish we had circle punches in every 1/4″ between 1″ and 5″. I would use each and every one! That’s why I was so excited to see that a 2-1/4″ Circle punch was introduced in the 2017 Annual Catalog – and it’s perfectly framed by one of the circles in the Layering Circles Framelits Dies. Yay! Here’s a look at my favorite new circle punch:
Stamp Sets: Santa’s Sleigh, Christmas Pines Papers: Crumb Cake, Berry Burst, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White Inks: Crumb Cake, Berry Burst, Wild Wasabi Accessories: 2-1/4″ Circle punch, Layering Circles Framelits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian

My gosh Brian! Your mathematical brain is amazing. How perfectly spaced each package is on this card. I honestly thought it was DSP. Perhaps you should start designing DSP for SU! Absolutely, perfectly gorgeous!
