I’ve been itching to play with my Message in a Bottle stamp set, and this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge gave me everything I needed to dust it off (it’s not really dusty because it was new with the 2017 Annual Catalog – it just FEELS dusty with all the new Holiday products that arrived last week). 🙂 Here’s my card:
- Flip the Sketch. I love the simplicity of this sketch. I changed it up just a smidge so that the layout would work with the Message in a Bottle set. I flipped the layout on its side and then matted the sketch with a couple of layers of cardstock. I do love a good border around my focal points. In the end, you can see this sketch in my card, right?
- Message in a Bottle. How adorable is this set?! It took a short while (OK, maybe a week) for the set to pop onto my “must have it” list. This set is perfect for Valentine’s Day – or any time of year that you need to share a Valentine-y sentiment. Each sentiment pairs with one of the images in a way that is so corny that it’s really sweet. I stamped the bottle on Whisper White, added the Pool Party water and then stamped the boat in Basic Black. I colored the sails with a Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker. Here’s a look at this fun set:
- Color Combination. I love the combination of red and aqua. Pool Party and Real Red is one of my all-time favorites. There’s a natural clash that results from the pairing of these two – but it’s a clash that works well. The addition of Crumb Cake on this card helps to tone down the clash a bit so they all work in unison. If you like this combination, too, please save this:
Stamp Sets: Message in a Bottle Papers: Real Red, Whisper White, Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Thick Whisper White Inks: Archival Basic Black, Pool Party, Stampin’ Write Marker (Real Red) Accessories: Classic Label Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
