Fall Favs for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group!  I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you.  I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.

Kim JolleyI am excited to welcome Kim Jolley to today’s blog hop – my team is just as excited as I am.  Kim is a super-talented friend with an incredible blog at Stampin’ Artfully.  Kim has inspired and popularized many great techniques I’ve shared on my blog (you’ve seen her name on my blog quite a bit over the past year).  🙂  So glad to have Kim join us!

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s August Blog Hop!  Today’s Blog Hop is filled with projects inspired by some of our favorite Fall-themed products.  What fun!  Stampin’ Up!’s catalogs (both the Annual Catalog and soon-to-be-released Holiday Catalog) are filled with so many fun products for the Autumn holidays – and we are excited to share our creations with you today.  After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Seasonal Chums for Thankgiving

Yesterday I shared a super-cute gift bag that features a jack-o-lantern image from the Seasonal Chums stamp set (you can see that project here).   The backside of the spooky jack-o-lantern is a sweet pumpkin that is perfect for Thanksgiving.  I loved it so much that I decided to showcase it here today.  Here’s my card:

  • Two Stamp Sets.  This card is mostly layers of cardstock and Designer Series Paper – but the pumpkin and little banner take center stage.  The pumpkin is the back of the tag from Seasonal Chums – I really love these tags (they are adorable on a gift), but I snipped them into two separate images so I could showcase both of them on a card front.  Here’s a look at the Seasonal Chums Bundle:

Because our catalogs are international, Thanksgiving sentiments are few and far between (did you know most countries outside the U.S. don’t celebrate Thanksgiving?).  I grabbed this sentiment from Basket of Wishes in the Annual Catalog – the font pairs perfectly with the lines of the pumpkin:

  • A Little Watercoloring.  The Old Olive panel of watercolored cardstock that makes up the middle panel of this card is from the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper.  It’s so gorgeous, so the pressure was on to make sure the pumpkin was just as gorgeous.  I stamped the pumpkin in Archival Basic Black on Thick Whisper White cardstock.  When the ink fully dried, I inked along the right side of the lines with Pumpkin Pie ink and an Aqua Painter.  I then filled in the rest of the space with light amounts of ink.  That gave me just the watercolored effect I was looking for – and it was SO EASY.  Here’s a closer look:Seasonal Chums,Basket of Wishes, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Thanksgiving card
  • Three Fall Colors.  If you are coloring a pumpkin, you’ll definitely want an orange, a brown and a green.  Duh!  While I painted my pumpkin’s stem with Soft Suede and my leaves with a mix of Old Olive and Garden Green, I accented them with Crumb Cake and Old Olive.  If you are inspired by this color combination, please save this:  Stampin' Up! 7. Brian, I never get enough of your beautiful layering. You are spot on, in using the back side of the jack-o-lantern as the front when you only need a pumpkin! So clever!

    • Thank you so much, Katrina! I really appreciate your compliment about my layering – I love building layers of paper. Glad it’s appreciated. I adore this image and am so glad it’s so versatile. Thanks for your comments.

  9. Just an all around gorgeous card Brian. I do love the backside of the pumpkin,,,,,,,,,it’s not only classy but totally embodies all the characteristics of fall I love . I saw so many gorgeous cards on the blog hop today. You’re totally right. What a talented group of stampers with such a talented leader. I have to admit that Kim’s card really bowled me over. Just fabulous. Also – good news – I received my Holiday catalog in the mail today and cleared this evening schedule to just drool over it. I want to tear it open right now but if I do that, nothing that needs to be done will get done today for sure!

    • Hey Grace, Thanks for your comment! I’m so glad you like my card but am super-thrilled that you like what the other hoppers created. Gorgeous, right? I’m excited that your catalog has arrived and can’t wait to hear what you think. 🙂
