Detailed Santa for CTS238

This week’s CAS(E) This Sketch includes a fun burst of flowers coming in from the top, right corner of the card.  I flipped through my Stampin’ Up! catalog to find the right images I could stamp – flowers, snowflakes, textures – I looked at them all.  Then…I found just what I was looking for.  Here’s my card:

Season Like Christmas, Detailed Santa Thinlits Die, Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingAnd here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

CTS238Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Detailed Santa Thinlits Dies.  Do you recognize the dies I used to create the wintry flurry I created on this card?  The Detailed Santa Thinlits Die was a featured item in last year’s Holiday Catalog – a gorgeous cutout of Santa Clause and his flowing beard.  The die carried over to this year’s Annual Catalog and can be found on page 216.

I cropped the die on a square of Soft Sky cardstock just a tad bit taller and wider than the die.  I snipped out Santa’s face and hat and flipped the whole thing upside down to create a delightful winter storm.

  • Don’t You?  Don’t you just love this sentiment?  It was the perfect size and style for the space I needed to fill on this card, AND the words are beautiful.  The sentiment is from a stamp set called Season Like Christmas in Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Catalog.

I predicted that this stamp set would be one of the most popular in the catalog (and I still believe it deserves to be), but this is the first time I’ve inked it up.  Will definitely be getting some good projects made with this stamp set this season.

  • Wintry Blues.  I just love all shades of blue on Holiday cards.  I’ve always reached for Pool Party for snow, but I’ve been gravitating toward Soft Sky lately.  Combined with Whisper White and Night of Navy, it’s quite lovely.  If you like this combination of colors, too, please save this: Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Night of Navy, Soft Sky, Whisper White

Stamp Sets:  Season Like Christmas  Papers:  Night of Navy, Soft Sky, Thick Whisper White  Inks:  Night of Navy  Accessories:  Detailed Santa Thinlits Dies, Colorful Seasons Thinlits Dies, Subtles Enamel Shapes (Soft Sky), Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!
