Happy Owl-oween for CTS

Today’s card is a quick-and-done card for the sketch over at CAS(E) This Sketch.  The sketch features a band across an offset panel with a sentiment on it.  My band?  An elegant tree branch.  My sentiment?  stamped right on top of the owl from Spooky Night.  Such fun!  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Spooky Cat.  Page 53 of Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Holiday Catalog is filled with so many wonderful products for Halloween (and beyond).  Spooky Cat is such a creepy (in a good way) stamp set that you’ll want for your October 31 creations.  A cat, a rat and a trio of tiny vats.  Here’s a look at this bundle:

Today’s card features the super-fun owl – it’s a THREE-step stamp.  I stamped the owl’s body with Crumb Cake.  Next I stamped the beak and feet (it’s one stamp) with Pumpkin Pie ink.  Last I stamped the eyes and sentiment (it’s one stamp) with Archival Basic Black.  Last, I cut out the owl.  I perched him on the branch from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies, cropped in Soft Suede.  Such fun!Spooky Cat, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Halloween card

  • Merry Little Christmas for Halloween.  When I started to make this card, I really wanted to feature the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper.  This piece of black paper, through, from the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper, caught my eye.  While it’s a perfect backdrop for a beautiful Christmas card, it’s also a perfect backdrop for my spooky owl.  Here’s a look at the patterns in this pack of papers:Merry Little Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Brian King 144621
  • Color Combination.  While Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black are always popular colors during Halloween, I added Crumb Cake to this project for a different look.  Crumb Cake is a magical color – it pairs with EVERYTHING.  It looks particularly wonderful here to tone down the orange.  If you like this color combination, too, please save this:Stampin' Up!
