Thank Goodness for You

This week’s theme challenge at The Paper Players is “harvest.”  I reached for the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper, which is where i picked up this background paper AND the sweet pumpkin.  In fact, the pumpkin image is found on the backside of the fun, graphic paper.  Which to use?  Both!  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Paper.  You know how you find a piece of printed paper that you love and that you don’t want to cut into because you want to wait for just the right project?  That beautiful print deserves to be honored on a project that you love, so you treat it with the utmost respect?  This page of little squares from Painted Autumn is one of those pages for me.  I love the modern design with this crazy-beautiful color combination (Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze and Soft Sky on a backdrop of Very Vanilla).  Here’s a look at the other colors and pages in this stack of paper:Painted Autumn, Stampin' Up!, Brian King 144613
  • Dimensions.  As I layered this card, one panel on top of the other, I tried to balance the colors in such a way as to perfectly showcase this Designer Series Paper and these colors.  This layering can work for other projects, too!  I’ve created a diagram of the layer sizes for you:Gourd Goodness, Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Colors.  I just love that this paper includes Soft Sky – it’s the unexpected friend in the small crowd of colors.  Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango and Early Espresso are expected (and still loved) guests on this Autumn paper, but Soft Sky is such a gorgeous accent.  If you like this combination of Soft Sky, Tangerine Tango and Early Espresso, please save this:Stampin' Up! 1. Soft Sky always looks fabulous with fall colors! Very pretty card!

    • Thanks so much, Linda! I remember a color challenge from a while back that paired pale blue with orange. I loved it!I’m so glad you like my card – thanks for the comment!

  2. LOVE IT !! I love this set of papers and like you I really like that mini squares side ….in fact I am using it for my swap cards this month . I am ordering another set just cause I hoard dsp !!!
Love your card with that sweet pumpkin …..guess there`s another one to CASE !!

    • Thanks so much, Sonny! I thought of you as I was writing my comments about hoarding a sheet of DSP, but I never imagined this was one of your “love” pieces. I understand why, though. 🙂

  3. This card is so adorable, and I’m so excited that I have one! Thanks again for participating in the Candy Hearts swap this month, Brian!

  4. The first thing that caught my eye was the Soft Sky color. It really pulls out the Soft Sky in the dsp. I think the Tangerine Tango and Early Expresó stand out a little bit more when you’re just looking at the dsp. The card is so pretty, I love it.

  5. Perfection. I love the single pumpkin . . . it’s lovely with the modern but very “active” pattern!

  6. Another winner, Brian! I am really enjoying this paper! I got my swatches from the holiday catty and wanted to say thanks. Do you use a scan n cut machine to cut out the small images from the DSP? Your cuts are always spot on and I am considering purchasing something for that reason.

    • Thanks so much for your comments, Debbie! So glad you like the swatch books – they are fun to pull together. I love to paper snip, but I did use a Scan and Cut for this. I’m not very good at it, though. Trying.

  7. I am wildly crazy about this DSP! Great card, Brian!

  8. Great card. I love this DSP.

The blue CS is amazingly cool with this DSP.

  10. The Soft Sky is a wonderful surprise – it just makes everything pop on this card. I especially like the DSP you used…fantastic card. Thanks for playing along over at The Paper Players this week!

    • Thanks so much for your comment, Annie! I’m so glad you like the card – that soft sky is gorgeous with all those rich colors – I pulled my color inspiration straight from the gorgeous paper. Fun challenge this week!
