It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who are excited to share our themed projects with you. I’m so honored to be a part of this group of talented stampers!
The theme for today’s Be Inspired Hop is “Stampin’ Up!’s 2017-2019 In Colors.” I love making Fall and Christmas projects, but it’s nice to take a little break from all the fun break from all the browns and yellows of Fall and the greens and reds of Christmas to play with the new In Colors. If you aren’t starting the hop here, then you probably just popped over from a visit with my adorable Aussie friend Louise Sharp at louisesharp.com.
Five new In Colors were gifted to us with the release of Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Annual Catalog – these five colors will be available for 2 years (unless they become a part of the permanent collection of colors). The five are Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink and Tranquil Tide:
I chose to play with Powder Pink for today’s hop. Powder Pink is a sweet, flesh-toned pink that’s perfect for the arrival of a baby girl. I’m using a couple of Holiday Catalog items, too, in my baby card that features Powder Pink. Here’s my card for today’s hop:
This project is inspired by this week’s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches – what a fun sketch by Jen Mitchell! Here’s a look at that sketch:
After you complete today’s hop, I hope you’ll pop over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see the Design Team projects with this fun sketch!
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Holiday Catalog for Baby. There are so many great ways to welcome a new baby girl. While this project features Powder Pink, the black and white on this card really stylize this project as a modern, fresh one. I used two products from the Holiday Catalog to create this card for baby. The fun, checkered background is Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper. I carefully trimmed around the paper to create a perfectly balanced pattern for this panel. Here’s a look at the other papers in Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper: The sentiment is from Watercolor Christmas stamp set. I ADORE the script here and think it’s perfect for any celebration. Here’s a look at this wonderful stamp set:
- Have I lost my Mind? This card was finished and photographed and ready to go. Something bugged me about it, though. The Powder Pink border on the top and left of the card was too wide. It felt so plain to me. Soo…I cropped off the front panel (careful to not destroy my cardfront) and remounted it on a thin panel of Basic Black for an added layer. Aaaah! That worked better for me. Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the two:
- Modern Sweetness. Powder Pink is an obvious choice for a sweet baby card, but this much black is probably unexpected – it’s still lovely, don’t you think? I love this bold pattern that’s somehow soft and sweet when positioned on a panel of soft pink. If you like this combination, too, please save this:
