Seasonal Lantern for FabFri123 and PP365

Before I share today’s project, I want to thank Deanne Kuntz, a Design Team member at the Paper Players, for selecting my card from last week’s Autumn Floral theme challenge as her “A Cut Above” selection.  Deanne (obviously) has great taste!  🙂  If you missed that sweet-and-simple card, you can check it out here.  I love playing along with online challenges for the inspiration they provide.  It’s always wonderful to be recognized by the challenge team members.  Thank you!

Today’s card is inspired by this week’s Color Challenge from the Paper Players (Early Espresso, Crushed Curry and Peekaboo Peach) from my talented friend Joanne James and by the FabFriday sketch challenge that kicks off today!  What fun to combine the two!  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Bright Idea!  My card features the super-fun combination of this lantern (from Seasonal Lantern in Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Holiday Catalog) and this sentiment (from the High Tide stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Annual Catalog).  What a great way to let someone know that they are important to you – isn’t that what this hobby is all about?  I feel particularly thankful for the people in my life this time of year – this combination of stamps really helps to create a wonderful sentiment.  Here’s a look at the Seasonal Lantern Bundle:

  • Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper.  Like the lantern and sentiment on this card, the background paper also evokes the feeling of light.  The mix of Peekaboo Peach and Tangerine Tango feels like a warm fire or sunset, and the spots feel like fireflies in the dawn sky.  It really adds a lovely feel to this card.  If you like this pattern, then you’ll LOVE the other pages in this wonderful pack of papers.  Here’s a look at the other pages and colors in Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper:Painted Autumn, Stampin' Up!, Brian King 144613
  • All the Things.  There are few elements on this card, so each element plays an important role.  Here’s a look at the key products used to make this sweet-and-simple card:Seasonal Lantern, High Tide, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  2. Great job, Brian, with the color challenge. Love it when I can merge different stamp sets on one card. The lantern and sentiment are perfect together. Enjoy your day!

  3. I adore how the designer paper appears to “glow” against the lantern. Bright idea!

  4. You did an excellent job interpreting the challenge. You use the color palette beautifully. The end result is an awesome autumnal card, love it. Great job Brian

  5. Such an uplifting card Brian. Have a great weekend!

  6. Awesome job combining these two stamp sets! I have not played with my lantern set yet so thanks for the inspiration! BTW- my one on one Holiday swap is on the way!

  7. Anything with Painted Autumn DSP is a hit with me. Lovely card.

  8. Once again, you combine things to make magic. Love that mashup!

    • Thanks, Lydia! I really appreciate it. I was trying to make the “Autumn Greetings” sentiment work when I remembered this one. So glad you like it. <3

  9. You have another “winner” with this card Brian. I know that challenges aren’t contests yet there are always those cards that jump out and grab you and this is one of them. I’m not a big DSP person but the Painted Autumn DSP reached out, grabbed me and said “you HAVE to have me” and it was right. Fantastic card from a fantastic designer. Love it.

  10. Now you’ve got me singing ….this little lit of mine…..pretty card!

  11. Flattery will get you everywhere Mr King – I love how you’ve interpreted my colours and combined with the FabFriday sketch! I too love DSP and I particularly like how you’ve used this piece of Painted Autumn for your background panel – it does look like dappled light and works perfectly with your lantern, which in turn balances the sentiment banner beautifully. You are the master of clean lines Brian – a great card indeed!

    • Thank you so much, Joanne! I really like this combination of colors and appreciate the challenge! I’m so glad you like my card – thanks for the comment.

  12. Great idea to combine the two sets, Brian. The sentiment works beautifully with your lantern. Great use of the colors this week. So glad you joined us at the Paper Players
