I love to create patterns with dies and punches – if I can create a fun background with shapes, then I’m in hog heaven. I was trying to do just that with the Quilt Builder Framelits when I was preparing for my local stamp club last week when but things got off track. Instead of a pattern, I created a featured image. I’m OK with that! 🙂 Here’s the sweet-and-simple card we made:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Quilt Builder Framelits Dies. It all started because I wanted to create a band across my card with triangles that alternate in orientation – but then I was stuck. I started moving pieces around and quickly realized I could form a perfect tree with just four triangles. Score! There are two triangles that create this stitched shape – one is a Framelit to cut the shape, and one is a die that cuts the stitched pattern inside the triangle. I quickly realized these two can be stacked together on the Big Shot platform to run through at once – so much easier to line up, too, than if I ran them through one at a time. Here’s a look at the Christmas Quilt Bundle (I didn’t use the stamp set on this project, but it coordinates wonderfully):
- Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper Stack. I love how these little triangles line up perfectly to create a larger triangle. I also love that there are so many Garden Green and Whisper White patterns in the Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper Stack so that each piece has a unique design. Such fun! Here’s a close-up of the pages I used on today’s card: This has been a go-to pack of papers for lots of projects since Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Catalog was released. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this stack:
- More Inspiration. I’ve used the stamps, dies and papers from the Quilted Christmas Suite of products on several projects this season. Here’s a look at some of these projects – you can click on the pictures to see the original posts for each.

I adore how you pieced together the similar yet unique patterns. Tim Gunn would approve.
Who cards what Tim Gunn thinks when Mary Fish likes it? 🙂 Thanks so much, Mary!
What a special discovery! I love it.
Thanks, Jackie! I enjoy playing around with shapes and colors – it’s always fun to find something that works. <3
Super cute card. I think how you used paper piecing turned out beautifully.
Thanks so much, Robbye! I appreciate it. 🙂
Brian, great inspiration to line up the triangles. I pinned your card. Definitely going to CASE it. I’ve been looking for inspiration for more green cards.
Thanks, Donna! I’m so glad you like it. I hope you have fun with it, too! <3
Be still my heart! You have uncovered the method for making quilts! Just cut shapes and put them together! Honestly Brian I am so dang impressed if I had access to trophies I would send you one! This is fantastic!
I thought you would be proud of me, Grace! For now, I’ll stick with paper crafting, but who knows where things could lead… 🙂
You’re a genius!!!
Oh, Jayne! I appreciate the compliment, but I’m only having fun. 🙂
Oh this is fun. Love all your cards made with this bundle. I can’t wait until I get mine but I have other things to get first and make. I wonder how the Log Cabin pattern would be made with left over strips and maybe the embossing folder to go with. I need to tuck that idea away for the future!
Thanks so much, Chris! It’s a great bundle – you should definitely pick it up when you’ve got all the other stuff you want. <3
Love this pretty card, Brian. It definitely has the quilt feel with the different patterns in the same green. Love the stitched triangle die that make it easy. Great job. Gotta love it when the lightbulb goes off!! Have a great weekend.
🙂 Thanks, HJ! The stitching really adds something special. I’m so glad you like it.
Bet you are good at puzzles! So clever! Adorable quilted tree!
I do love a good puzzle. Thanks, Linda! <3
Love that tree of triangles ! CLEVER !
Have you ever thought about trying quilting ?
You have mastered some mighty pretty quilt type cards !
Not sure I’m primed for the quilting world, Sonny. Just taking one hobby at a time. 🙂 Thanks! So glad you like the card! <3
Didn’t have a chance to come by yesterday but I must tell you today that this is one super clever way to make a quilt card, love it!!!
Thank you for sharing.

Maria.
Thanks so much, Maria! This is such a great pack of papers, and the dies are so fun. This was a fun card to make. <3
