Thanksgiving Dinner Place Cards for GDP111

If I could name one holiday that is ALL ABOUT family, it would have to be Thanksgiving.  Every Thanksgiving, families get together to enjoy a delicious meal and just enjoy each other’s company.  There’s no stress around gift-giving, and there’s always a feeling of thankfulness.  For today’s Family Time theme at the Global Design Project, I created a handful of personalized place cards for the Thanksgiving table – what a great way to add simple beauty to the dinner table.  Here’s my project:

  • Large Letters Framelits Dies.  Since they were first introduced in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Annual Catalog, I’ve been a huge fan of the Large Letters Framelits Dies.  They are perfect for creating short words on cards (you can see my JOY eclipse card here and my HO HO HO Santa card here).  Here’s a look at the Large Letters Framelits Dies:

The letters can also be used to customize a gift tag or to personalize a place card for the dinner table.  For each, I cropped the letter with Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper and again with Thick Very Vanilla – I glued the two together and popped them up with Foam Adhesive Strips.  Here’s a close up at one of the tags:Thanksgiving Seat Place Cards, Large Letters Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  • Size, Accents and Paper.  Each of these place cards measures 2-1/2″ x 8-1/5″ (scored at 4-1/4″).  To each letter, I added a Cajun Craze bow from the Mini Treat Bags Thinlits Dies.  What a sweet accent – it pulls the Cajun Craze dots from the Painted Autumn Designer Series background.  Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this awesome pack of papers:Painted Autumn, Stampin' Up!, Brian King 144613During October, Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper is one of many papers that’s part of Stampin’ Up!’s “Buy 3, Get 1 Free” Promotion.  To see all of the papers in this promotion, please click here or on the image below: Buy 3, Get 1 Free Designer Series Paper SaleThe sentiment is pulled from Basket of Wishes, masked to only use the “giving thanks” line – it’s cropped with a Classic Label Punch and popped up with Foam Adhesive Strips.  Here’s how the tag would stand up on (or in front of) the plate:  Thanksgiving Seat Place Cards, Large Letters Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Warm Color Inspiration.  The colors for this project are pulled directly from this beautiful panel of Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper.  While Early Espresso and Cajun Craze are standard Fall colors, I love the addition of Old Olive here.  If you also like this color combination, too, please save this:Stampin' Up! 2. Love your Idea Brian, so totally creative and love to see some harvest stuff, need to use my paper as well in the next weeks 😉

    • Thanks so much, Stefanie! I didn’t want to overdo it with pumpkins and leaves – I restrained myself and kept them simple. So glad you like them. <3

  3. What a lovely idea to simply do the initial! Looks fabulous for fall!

    • Thanks, Mary! Folks with the same initials will have to fight over where they sit – but it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without a little bickering. 🙂 I always love to hear from you.

  4. What beautiful place cards for your table. Love the large initial in that zigzag DSP and the little Cajun Craze bow is the perfect embellishment . Great job, Brian. Have a nice day!

  5. My favorite holiday, my favorite Designer Paper, my favorite Framelits. How could these miss? Love them.

  6. I love this idea! I might also add some vanilla or white paper to the backside and have them write down the things they are thankful for this year and then attach it to a banner with mini clothes pins! I think I’m gonna do this!

  7. Simply beautiful!

  8. I love these! They are so cute!!!

  9. Great idea! So elegant…..and I love the bows!

  10. These are absolutely gorgeous, Brian! I think these will look great as part of a Thanksgiving place setting! The size is just perfect for framing the letter and for standing up above a plate! Thanks for the inspiration!

    • Thank you so much, Natalie! I might not know a lot about cooking or setting a table, but I can make a quick name card that looks nice. 🙂 Appreciate it.

  11. What an awesome idea and what beautiful place cards. Super job Brian

  13. What a great idea, Brian! And, I love the paper bows!

  14. Simply divine. My sister in law has placed us at dinner and it’s great fun to talk to someone different….we usually clump, nephews together, couples, etc but it does invite new fun conversations!!

    • I like that! In most social situations, I try to sit first and let people just fill in around me – better than trying to control seating or saving seats.

  15. I love personalizing things, what a fun idea, sure to spark a conversation.

  16. Ooooh my friend your table is going to look beautiful,
    Love them , perfect ♥️
    Hugs Frenchie

  17. Understated elegance… Just my style. Gonna CASE these for my own Thanksgiving table decor. A big “thank you” for sharing.
