SNEAK PEEK: Bird Banter (Day Five)

Over the past two weeks, I’ve enjoyed enjoyed sharing the projects I presented during my Stamp Showcase presentation on the Main Stage during Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage event. For my presentation, I created and shared five new projects with the Bird Banter stamp set that will be available in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Occasions Catalog.  If you missed my first four projects with this new set, you can see them here:

If you liked the pair of parakeets I shared yesterday, then you’re going to LOVE the stack of parakeets I’m sharing today! This is the fourth card I showcased on the mainstage. Here’s my card:

  • Products Showcased.  Each of the project I shared showcased different papers, different coloring techniques and different card styles. For this project, I’ve showcased this sweet pile of parakeets on a backdrop of Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper.  They are perched on a perfectly appropriate sentiment from the Lift Me Up stamp set and colored with Stampin’ Blends. Here’s a look a this new Bird Banter stamp set: Bird Banter, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, #145852Because the stamp set is photopolymer, the stamps are completely clear – makes it really easy to line them up. Here’s the Lift Me Up stamp set with this fun sentiment:

Such a fun set – even if you don’t showcase the coordinating balloons!  And here are the colors and patterns in this Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper:Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!

  • Blending the Birdies.  I stamped the four birds with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and the colored them with Pool Party Stampin’ Blends. Such an easy way to add color to a stamped image! If you haven’t yet given Stampin’ Blends a try, what are you waiting for? They are truly wonderful and easy to use. Click here to see all the Stampin’ Blends Options:  Stampin' Blends, Stampin' Up!While the birds are colored with Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers, the heart is colored with a Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write Marker.  It’s important to know how you plan to color an image so that you can stamp it with the right black ink.  For alcohol markers (like Stampin’ Blends), you should stamp the image with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  For water-based markers (like Stampin’ Write Markers), Archival Basic Black pads are perfection!  I stamped the bird with Memento ink and the heart with an Archival pad, so I was all set when it came time to color.  ?
  • Color Combination.  Pinks and corals really pop when paired with the soft aqua appeal of Pool Party. Just a touch of Melon Mambo (in the border around the central panel and the heart) are just the perfect accent to this Pool Party base. If you like this color combination as much as I do, please save this: Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Pool Party, Melon Mambo, Basic Black
