Smitten with Mittens

I work a full-time job outside of Stampin’ Up!. As Director of Corporate Accounting for Cox Enterprises, I manage a wonderful team of accountants who work hard every day. As a surprise to them, my boss and I hosted a year-end meeting yesterday to celebrate their achievements for the year and let them know how much we appreciate their dedication. We purchased delicious pound cakes from a local bakery and handed them out during the meeting. The cake was the boring part of their gift. šŸ™‚ Each cake was delivered to our team members with a handmade 3″ x 3″ card. What did you expect!?

Here’s the simple card I made for each of our team members:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Smitten Mittens. This 3″ x 3″ card features a gorgeous mitten from the Many Mittens Thinlits Dies that coordinate with the Smitten Mittens stamp set.  I layered a Real Red mitten cropped with the Thinlits over a solid mitten cropped in Thick Whisper White. So easy to create these sweet mittens – popped up and decorated with a White Perfect Accent. So, here’s the thing…the Smitten Mittens bundle is going away. The bundle (and individual items) is on Stampin’ Up!’s Retired List. As such, they are only offered on a while-supplies-last basis. If you love this bundle as much as I do, now is the time to grab it up! Here’s a look at this bundle:

  • Unexpected Color Combination. I love this shocking combination of Lemon Lime Twist, Garden Green and Real Red. I would have never thought I love these three together so much. The dark green and bright red are perfectly Christmasy together – the bright green adds that unexpected punch. If you love these colors as much as I do, please save this:Stampin' Up! • Infinity Shot. When I make multiples of one design, I like to grab a photo of all of the cards lined up beside each other. Infinity shots make the cards seem like they go on forever. What fun! Here’s a fun shot of these cards before they were folded up and tucked inside their little envelopes:Many Mittens, Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  1. Adorable card Brian. Who doesnā€™t love the Smitten Mittens stamp set? Add the breakout star of the InColors,Lemon Lime Twist, to the mix and those two things alone spell winner. I bet there were smiles all around when your ā€œotherā€ team opened their cards.

    • Thanks, Robbye! It’s a sweet set, and I love these colors. My team really enjoyed their cards – these little mittens are up in each person’s office. šŸ™‚

  2. Love that detailed stitching of the DSP as well as the detailed die cutting of the mitten. Reminds me of snowy days as a kiddo!

    • It’s a fun image that has still has a sophistication – I love it, too! It doesn’t often get that cold in the South, but mittens still feel like Christmas. Thanks, Mary!

  3. That is a color combination that I would not have thought to use by including the Lemon Lime Twist, but it works perfectly. What a fun treat for your team.

  4. Love that pop of lemon lime! What a sweet surprise for everyone!

  5. Lots of my fav products there! Yes, the color combination is surprising! Cute cards, Iā€™m sure your folks loved them!

  6. What a fun card to accompany such a thoughtful gift. How on earth do you get so much done, Brian? The unbounded energy you must have.

    • Ha, Leanne! I’ve never thought of myself as “high-energy” but I seem to be able to focus and get things done. I’m a “morning person” so I’m often stamping an hour or more before I head off to work. šŸ™‚ Thanks so much for your comments!

  7. What a wonderful card to receive with their boring old cake! I know they appreciated it. Love the colors and the mitten.

  8. This stamp and die set has been one of my favorite sets since I received it. You can do a lot more then make mittens with those dies. For instance I saw a card on Pinterest (so sorry I didn’t write the designers name down) where two cuts of the mitten made a fantastic little penguin. One of the best parts of owning this set is that it can be used all winter long and makes fabulous cards for the little ones in the family. Love the lemon lime twist card stock in this ingenious combination.

  9. Love it! I still am trying to get used to the new Lemon Lime Twist but the whole card is wonderful. At a card club I go to we made a gift card holder and the mittens are adhered to look like they are holding the gift card. So, I finally broke down and bought the bundle as I am a mitten type of girl! I couldn’t believe it was not carried over. Great job as always and the DSP is perfect on there!

  10. Iā€™m smitten.

  11. So cute ! As Grace said ….these mittens can be used for winter cards also . I am surprised it is not a carry over . I still have my mitten punch and love it !! I think the mittens in the Merry Christmas DSP just begs for this big mitten or my little fellas from the retired punch . Such fun !!
I am sure your co-workers were delighted with their cakes and cards ….

  12. Cakes and cards…..the perfect combo! This is adorable with the bright lemon lime!
