Hanging Garden for GDP117

Lots of great things to share today! For starters, Stampin’ Up! is giving us a FREE SHIPPING day today! What a wonderful gift! I can’t think of a year when we’ve had TWO free shipping days – this is a first (the first one as in November). I know you have a wish list that you keep updating over and over – so all you have to do is grab that list and place your order today. 🙂 What a great time to stock up on papers and supplies – or to look back at some of the great bundles in the Annual Catalog you have been waiting on. It’s also a great time to take advantage of the Retiring Items (some are priced-reduced) while supplies last. Yay!

The next gift is this week’s color challenge at the Global Design Project – Real Red, Lemon Lime Twist and Crumb Cake. What a great combination for either Christmas or Spring. I chose to showcase a sweet, new set from Stampin’ Up!’s upcoming Occasions Catalog and a fun, new accessory. Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for this week’s Global Design Project color challenge that inspired my card:

Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Real Red, Lemon Lime Twist, Crumb CakeTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Hanging Garden. While the new Hanging Garden stamp set is paired with the Stampin’ Blends Markers in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Occasions Catalog (it’s such a sweet set to color with the new Blends), I used Stampin’ Write Markers and a Blender Pen to color the sweet basket. The colors for this challenge are just perfect for this sweet basket – leaves, flowers and soil-filled basket. How could I NOT use this image for this challenge?! Here’s a look at this fun set:

I had just enough room at the base of this card for the sweet sentiment from Bunch of Blossoms. Here’s a look at this fun set:

  • Design Choices. I typically center and showcase full images – it makes me sad to hack them off or only show you a piece of their beauty.  With this basket of flowers, though, I made the bold and risky choice to stamp the basket along the side of the card such that some of the image is cropped off. Ooooh! What a rebel! With the basket hanging down the side of the card, it gave me just the right balance I wanted to work perfectly with the sentiment. You can’t really see it here, but I added a little Clear Wink of Stella to my flowers when I was done. What a perfect accent!
  • New Accessory. My card base measures 2-1/2″ x 9″ (scored at 4-1/2″) – small, tall and slender. What a fun size! Stampin’ Up!’s Occasions Catalog comes with new Whisper White Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes:

I used the envelope from this new item, but created my own card to go inside. The envelope is not large enough to be mailed in the United States (must be at least 3-1/2″ wide), but that’s A-OK with me. I can find 100 other ways to use these fun envies – they are perfect for gift-giving or could be tucked inside a larger envelope. FUN TIP – To create an envelope liner for my card, I punched a piece of Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper with a 2-1/4″ Circle punch and folded it in half.
