It’s a Wrap (Literally) for Valentine Sweet Treats

On Sunday I shared the make-and-take projects I shared last week with my coworkers. If you missed the projects and the smiling faces, you can see my post here. I give, I give – and the giving doesn’t stop there. Tomorrow, coworkers in my department (and some friends at work) will receive a little Valentine’s Day treat from me. It’s nothing big, but I hope they’ll like it.

Who doesn’t love Tiny Conversation Hearts? I found little boxes of these sweet treats at my local drug store. For two weeks, I tossed around ideas for how to package these little boxes – an envelope, a tiny gift bag or a little box. So many options! I decided to just wrap the little boxes with strips of Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at one of the sweet boxes:

Foil Frenzy Valentine treat wrap, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI simply wrapped a 3-1/2″ wide strip of cardstock around the boxes, creasing at every turn. I left about a 1″ piece of cardstock to pop up with a heart (from the Lots to Love Box Thinlits Dies) and sentiment (from the coordinating Sure do Love You stamp set). Here’s a peek at the side of the treat box:

Foil Frenzy Valentine treat wrap, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingWhile the measurements will vary for boxes in different sizes, here are the measurements for the wraps on these little Valentine’s Day candy boxes:

  • Cut a 3-1/2″ x 7″ piece of Fancy Foil Specialty Designer Series Paper.
  • Score at 1-3/4″, 2-1/2″, 4-1/4″, 5-1/16″ and 6-1/8″.
  • Burnish the score lines with a bone folder – the last piece folds opposite the other folds.
  • Adhere the crease at the top with Tear and Tape to secure tightly around the box.
  • Decorate with a heart or sentiment.

My friend and team member, Candy Ford, came over Saturday to stamp with me – always fun. I put her to work for a bit when she offered to help me mass-produce these little treat boxes. Thanks, Candy!

Here’s a look at the boxes all lined up together:

Foil Frenzy Valentine treat wrap, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingMost of my boxes were wrapped with pages with Berry Burst foil – makes sense for Valentine’s Day, right? I I didn’t want to exclude my male coworkers (who probably wouldn’t want a pink gift with a heart on it), so I used Lemon Lime Twist or Soft Sky papers. For the guys, I also switched up the heart and just punched the sentiment with the Tailored Tag punch. Such an easy change for a big difference.

Foil Frenzy Valentine treat wrap, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingHow sweet is that paper?! The Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper is great for cards but perfect for 3-D projects. The heavyweight kraft paper is designed with foil patterns in four colors – Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Softy Sky and Tangerine Tango. Here’s a look at the patterns and colors in this pack of papers:

Foil Frenzy Valentine treat wrap, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingMy coworkers will received this fun treats tomorrow – but I wanted to show them to you today. Even though they all made cards with me on Friday, none of me (as far as I know) reads my blog, so I hope I haven’t ruined the surprise. 🙂

And that’s a wrap!

Thanks for stopping by today!

  6. I love that foil DSP and it definitely makes a beautiful wrap for the little treats. Your projects involving mass producing are amazing. When I make six of something, I get bored and want to move on. I don’t know how you do it! LOL! Have a great day!

  7. Oh Brian – sweets from the sweet! I so wish I had worked for you! What a terrific, beautiful way to say I appreciate you. You know, I learned long ago that it’s the small things that people do that bring your heart the most joy. Just a little gift to show someone they are appreciated is worth so much more then some splashy gift with no thought in it. I just love this.

  8. Foil Frenzy, candy. What can be wrong with that combination? Nothing! Love it!

  9. Fun wrap and good use of that DSP I have been hoarding. They will love them!
