You Rock for GDP127

This week’s Global Design Project challenge features something we ALL love – Sale-a-Bration. I featured TWO Sale-a-Bration favorites on my quick-and-easy card. Can you name them? Here’s my card:

Epic Celebrations, Celebrate You Thinlits Dies, Large Letters Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingAnd here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

GDPD127Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Epic Celebrations. While the oversized letters really steal the attention on this card, the guitar really sets the tone, don’t you think? I stamped this guitar (one of the fun images from Epic Celebrations) in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Thick Whisper White. I then colored the guitar with a Light Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend and highlighted it with the dark pen. I added a little Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend to the fingerboard and then snipped it out. Here’s a look at the Epic Celebrations stamp set:

  • Large Letters. The Large Letters Framelits Dies have proven to be one of my favorite investments. They are so versatile and so straightforward – they can change look with different patterns and papers. To create this fun, striped look, I cropped the letters from the already-striped Color Theory Designer Series Paper. I placed the letters on my Big Shot plate with the Magnetic Platform to perfectly align them before cranking them out.Line up the letters against the pattern on the Color Theory Designer Series Paper with the Magnetic Platform for a uniform look, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • A Little More Red. To balance out the super-cool red guitar, I added the “YOU” (from the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies) to complete the “You Rock” sentiment. To fill the space above the word “Rock,” I added three Real Red stars that were cropped from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies. Such a sweet, easy accent! The three stars gave my project balance of objects and colors. So happy for that quick-and-easy addition.

Stamp Sets: Epic Celebrations  Papers: Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack, Dapper Denim, Real Red, Thick Whisper White  Inks: Tuxedo Black Memento, Stampin’ Blends (Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake)  Accessories: Celebrate You Thinlits Dies, Large Letters Framelits Dies, Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. Such a fun card!! Indeed You do Rock!!!!

  2. I just love how much interest you created with a relatively simple design. Brilliant!

  3. LOVE. Strangely, this is one of my favorite sets lately – I didn’t think I liked it, but you can do so many fun things with it – and this is definitely one of my fave cards with it!

  4. Marvelous how you lined up all the letters at once and “rocked” them through! I’m with Lydia . . . this stamp set has turned it’s “appeal” around and has much more to offer than I originally thought.

  5. You balanced out the colors beautifully Brian…great card!!!

  6. Awesome card…genius thinking to cut the letters on that DSP for the ombre look!

  7. LOVE this Brian – definitely feel a CASE coming on! Love the combo of colours, product and music theme. Great card!

  8. “The guitar sets the tone” – really Brian? I must be in a silly mood this morning because that cracked me up! The hubs came in to find out what was so funny. I love this card, I love your sense of humor, I love stampin’ up! You just bring me joy every day with your wittiness and fabulous cards. Thank you.

    • 🙂 I hate that your husband had to be alarmed, but I’m glad he was alerted by laughter. So happy my corniness can bring you a smile. Thanks for your sweet comments, Grace!

  9. One out of two “Ain’t” bad, the Epic Set was easy to guess, but the word YOU got over shallowed by the large letters. I laughed when I saw that it was the word YOU. Your challenges make me think ?.

Brian, this card is the perfect card that should be sent to you, over and over again! It’s very cool!

    • Awww…thanks so much, Katrina! I’m so happy that you tried to guess. It’s A-OK with me that you only guessed one. The word “you” is so un-obvious, but that’s what makes those dies so cool (IMHO).

  10. I knew the stamp sets. I’m clever that way. You should send the card to yourself as YOU ROCK!

  11. Love this and will be perfect for my soon to be 16 nephew. I knew I would make something with this set and now I know what! Was hoping to go to your event at On Stage but I didn’t get in. I am on the wait list but that doesn’t look too good right now. Looking forward to see the awesome projects y’all create 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Debbie! He’ll love the card! You can still make the trek to Atlanta – even if you don’t get into the OnStage event. We’d love for you to join us (but registration is closing really soon). <3
