Hang in There with Beautiful You

Cards can serve all kinds of occasions – they can celebrate success or share thankfulness or offer a kind thought. Sympathy cards or thinking of you cards are the hardest to make because of all the emotion that comes with the card. A simple and pleasant card is always an appropriate way to say “I’m here for you” or “Thinking of you.” I made such a card for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge. Here’s my card:

Beautiful You, Hanging Garden, Stampin' Up!, Brian King 1And here’s the banner for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge that inspired my card:

  • Beautiful You & Hanging Garden. My card pairs two stamp sets – one is an “new favorite,” and one is an “old stand-by.” The stylish woman in this image from Beautiful You carries an umbrella to keep shelter from the rain – the image tells a story, don’t you think? Here’s a look at the other images and sentiments in Beautiful You:

I paired the image with an appropriate “Hang in there” from Hanging Garden, a new favorite from Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Occasions Catalog. Here’s a look at the Hanging Garden stamp set:

  • Paper-Piecing & Naturally Eclectic. I stamped the image from Beautiful You on the Thick Whisper White panel on the front of this card. I also stamped her on a two panels of watercolor-designed papers from Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper – I snipped her dress from a piece of Berry Burst paper and her umbrella from a piece of Emerald Envy. Such an easy way to add depth and interest to this graceful image. The background panel on this card is a Night of Navy sheet that looks like rain – perfect for my umbrella-toting lady. • A Beautiful Trio. The colors on this card were pulled right from the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper – a blue, a green a red. The combination of these colors is beautiful, rich and calming. If you like this combination of Emerald Envy, Berry Burst and Night of Navy, please save this:Stampin' Up! 1. I always love how you combine stamp sets to form your designs, and as ever, your color use is masterful. Wonderful card!

  2. Wow! I love how you “blocked” the sentiment and kept the design simple. Berry Burst is lovely for the dress but the green umbrella is the bomb!

  3. I love how the DSP looks like rain…you always put a smile on my face Brian! And your placement of the sentiment is so clever…beautiful card!

  5. Beautiful You is one of my all-time favorite stamp sets. Love this color combo and your snipping skills on the paper piecing dress and umbrella are awesome. Love the unique design of the sentiment. In other words, all of it together make a beautiful card. We got through the second Nor’easter with no loss of power or property damage. Now they say a third one is on the way! Eek!! Enjoy your day!

  6. Simple and oh so classy! Perfect for the sketch!

    This simple elegance is beautiful!

  8. Beautiful You is a top favorite of mine. I love dressing her up. And the green umbrella is the BOMB! Outstanding job, Brian.

  9. I think this card is so complete that it doesn’t even need a saying inside. Unfortunately right now I could use about 4 of these for friends going through difficult times. There are times when the less said is better. This card, to me, is amazing.

    • Awwww…thanks so much, Grace. Sorry to hear that your friends are having a rough time. I know you’ll share a gorgeous card with them. <3
