I just can’t stay away from my Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper this week. This is my third post in a row that features this paper – I normally try to mix things up, but I’m A-OK with this trend. 🙂 This week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge gave me another reason to play with this fun paper – and I added in the wizard from the Magical Day bundle. Here’s my card:
And here’s Donna Mikasa’s sketch for the challenge that inspired my card:
- Magical Mates Bundle & Lovely Wishes. I adore the fun images in the Magical Mates Bundle – perfect for fun-loving people of all ages! I stamped the wizard with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored him with three Stampin’ Blends Markers (Light Pool Party, Light Smoky Slate and Ivory). So simple! I cropped him with the coordinating Magical Mates Framelits Dies. Here’s a look at this fun bundle:
The sentiment is from a beautiful, floral set called Lovely Wishes. You might not expect to find a sentiment perfect for a fun wizard in that set, but it’s there! Here’s a look at Lovely Wishes:
- All That Shine & Texture! There are three elements in this card that add some extra shine – can you name them all? No worries – rest your mind for the moment, and I’ll just point them out to you: (1) White Embossing Powder. There’s a slickness and a little bit of a shine to this sentiment that was stamped with Whisper White Craft Ink and powdered with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. (2) Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush. To create this orb in the wizard’s hand, I sponged a circle with Daffodil Delight and Fresh Fig inks. To give it a little shine, I added a coat of shine with my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush. Such an easy way to add a touch of sparkle! (3) Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper. The Fresh Fig pattern from Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper is designed with iridescent, glittered stars. Fun – and not messy! Here’s a look at the patterns and colors in the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series: Earlier this week, I offered some additional color combination suggestions with this paper (along with some other projects I have made with this set and these papers). - Cool Color Combo. The colors for this card started with the backdrop of Fresh Fig – thanks, Myths & Magic! After flipping through my Stampin’ Blends to find a color for my wizard’s robe, I landed on Pool Party. I already had purple on my background and knew I’d use gray on his beard. Pool Party seemed to work! I love this combination of purple, blue and yellow. If you like it as much as I do, please feel free to save this:
Bundles: Magical Day Bundle Stamp Sets: Magical Day, Lovely Wishes Papers: Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper, Fresh Fig, Pool Party, Basic Black, Thick Whisper White Inks: Whisper White Kraft Ink, Fresh Fig, Daffodil Delight, Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin’ Blends (Light Pool Party, Light Smoky Slate, Ivory) Accessories: Magical Mates Framelits Dies, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, 2-3/8″ Circle punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site (the challenge goes live at 10am EST) to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Another cute card Brian! It would be perfect for one of the patrols in my Boy Scout Troop…they have a wizard as their patrol patch!
Such fun, Dawn! I’m so glad you like the card! <3
Ohhhh, I love the orb! sponging AND Wink of Stella!? Two of my favorite things! Great card!.
I was so happy with how it turned out – I thought I’d have to do it over and over again, but I got it right on the first try. Yay! So glad you like it! <3
A sharp color combo and cool card! Very magical!
Thanks, Windy! Again, purple. Will I ever not think of you when using purple? 🙂 <3
The coloring and colors are impeccable – very magical indeed!
Thanks so much, Mary! I’m so happy you like it. Had fun with it.
My stamping Wizard you have the magic going on. Love it!
Oh, Liz! Your comment has made my day! Thanks so much! <3
He is wonderful! I adore the moon you created! It is fabulous!!
Ah! I see what you did there. 🙂 Thanks, Jennifer! <3
He does look oh so magical……especially with that glorious moon behind him!
Thanks, Linda. I was so happy that the moon turned out the way I wanted it to. Glad you like it. <3
I am just “over the moon” with the way you made the moon on this card. First of all the color combination is fabulous and then – the “soup de jour” of the day (my favorite embellishing tool) the Wink of Stella brush! Glitter with no mess – gotta’ love it!
I’m so happy you like it, Grace. That Wink of Stella adds so much without a mess. I wish it showed up better in photographs. <3
Just plain fun! Great card by the Magician of Cards!
Thanks, Ginger! <3
Fun card ! There are so many options with this dsp ….I made another box this morning and I am getting ready to do a cute project with those adorable MERMAIDS …. I like your wizard (he has ATTITUDE ) as the holder of the mystical orb !!!
Thanks, Sonny! I’ve been playing with this paper A LOT. Time to put it away and work with other products. So glad you like it. <3
Magical indeed Brian, love the look of confidence on this fabulous Wizard, he knows he’s got it together, 😉
And this is another winner color combination Brian, just fabulous.
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much, Maria! I have really grown to love these fun characters, and this wizard is so fun. Glad you like my card, my friend! <3
This is certainly a magical card, Brian! I know I’m repeating some previous sentiments, but that orb is capital-P Phenomenal! I would never have though of that color combo to make that work, but it’s just perfect! That’s why you’re the King!
P.S- I love this DSP pack so much! And I really hope the stamps and dies carry over- they’re some of my favorites!
Thanks so much, Nina! I’m so happy you like the card. I love these characters and had lots of fun with that orb. <3 I'd love to see them carry over, too!
I love this card Brian.
Thanks so much, Robbye! I’m thrilled that you like it. <3
Very fun take on the sketch, Brian!
Thanks, Leigh! I knew right away what I wanted to do with that sketch. <3
Love, love, love!!!
<3 Thanks so much. It was a fun (and easy) card to make! <3
This card is so cute!! LOVE the night sky you created and that image is so FUN!!!!
Thanks so much, Nora! The night sky is just a panel of paper from the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper – the easiest kind of backdrop to create. 🙂 Appreciate your comments!
