It’s time for another CASE the Designer Challenge with the Global Design Project. There are so many places to find inspiration for the projects we make – I love the opportunity to create a project that’s inspired by the art of my fellow team members on GDP. Always a joy! This week we are CASEing a sweet Petal Palette project by Stesha Bloodhart, my super-talented friend.
Here’s my card for this CASE the Designer challenge:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:If you’d like to read more about Stesha’s project, click here to see her original post..
When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own. When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all.
Stesha’s project inspired to create a sweet thank you card with Petal Palette bundle. Like Stesha, I also kept a clean layout for my card, positioned these gorgeous flowers along the left side of the card. A clean-and-simple thank you note – what great inspiration!
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Petal Palette Bundle. I couldn’t love the Petal Palette Bundle more than I do. The beautiful, watercolored design is perfect for almost any occasion – weddings, thank yous, birthdays and just because. Does just because count as an occasion? For the sake of this post, please consider that it does. When Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Occasions Catalog was first released, I knew that this bundle of flowers, a bird and some amazing sentiments would top my list of must-haves. I’m still as excited about it today as I was when I first saw the Occasions Catalog. Here’s a peak at this chic and stylish bundle:
- A Little Tutti-Frutti. I absolutely love the Tutti-Frutti 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and reach for it often. Not only is this pack of paper perfect for sugar-sweet projects that celebrate fruity goodness, but there are also patterns that work with other color schemes. There are 13 colors listed in the product listing for this pack of papers, but Crumb Cake is not one of them. That’s A-OK by me because this page of diagonal stripes works beautifully on my project. Here’s a look at the fun (and classic) patterns and colors in the Tutti-Frutti 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper:
- Layers. Sometimes simple layers can be so effective. My card is quite simple, but I love how the layers build – from a solid Crumb Cake Layer to a Crumb Cake & Whisper White layer to a Whisper White layer. Sometimes I feel sweet and want to share the measurements for my layers. Here they are, working from the base to the top of the card:
- Crumb Cake – 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ (scored at 4-1/4″)
- Basic Black – 4-7/8″ x 3-5/8″
- Tutti-Frutti 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″
- Basic Black – 3-7/8″ x 2-5/8″
- Whisper White – 3-3/4″ X 2-1/2″
- Crumb Cake – Petals & More Thinlits Dies

I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Crumb Cake and Black…always a classic. Beautiful card Brian!
Thanks, Dawn! I thought to add other colors but then thought better of it. Glad you like it!
Lovely neutrals and I love the simple stripe so that the floral can make lots of impact!
Thanks, Mary! I had a couple of “what would Mary do?” moments when making this. <3
Sweet is the perfect word for this card! Love it!
Thanks, Dianne! So happy you like it. <3
Great take on Stesha’s card, Brian. The stripes are the perfect DSP to make this a standout. Enjoy your day!
Thanks so much, HJ! I always love to hear from you. Glad you like it!
And we most definitely now will be CASEing you, Brian! Lovely card. Also …
CONGRATULATIONS on being featured in Stampin’ Success!! You certainly are the guru of customer communications. Thanks for the great tips.
Awww…thanks so much, Leanne! I’m glad you like the card and am grateful for the shoutout. I’m so happy to share.
Well Brian – the thin black layering is the subtle yet outstanding feature of this card to me. Like a good theatrical performance, the background players enhance the performance of the leading actors/actresses. I just love it.
Thanks, Grace! I do love a crisp border, and black or white are generally my favorites. <3
One word. . .Outstanding!
Two words…thank you! <3
Once again you’ve decided to visit my personal wheelhouse. I LOVE the neutrals ! I think their muted colors give a vintage feeling to most projects. Your card is a perfect example of that, it has the delicacy that says vintage softly, I love it. Awesome job Brian.
Thanks so much, Robbye! I love the feel of these colors together. It’s a shift from what I normally make. Glad you like it! <3
I like it ! And as Grace wrote ….that thin black edge sets the stage !!
Yay! Thanks, Sonny! <3
I love the Tutti-Frutti paper! It is so playful and fun :).
I agree! I really enjoyed playing with it – it really helped me set the mood for this card.
Beautiful card! The Tutti-Fruitti DSP is a surprise, but adds to the simply beautiful color combination and floral stamp.
Thanks so much, Sue! I was going to go with a solid white panel, but plans changed the moment I remembered this striped paper! <3
I saw your card on global yesterday but just realized I did not pop over here! You make Crumb Cake look good! Nice card!
Thanks, Windy! I appreciate it. <3
