Cool Treats for CTS266

Spring is the perfect time to showcase flowers and baby animals and sunshine. As the weather warms up, it’s also a wonderful time to celebrate fruit, ice cream and other refreshing sweet treats. When I saw three dots on this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge (a retro sketch from CTS29!), I saw the perfect opportunity to share my favorite Summer treat – ice cream cones. Here’s my card:

Cool Treats, Frozen Treats Framelits Dies, Fruit Basket, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CTS266And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

CTS266Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • So Cool. I haven’t really used Cool Treats (and the coordinating Frozen Treats Framelits Dies) in quite some time. It’s not because they aren’t totally awesome and fun – it’s because I don’t think about ice cream cones in the dead of Winter. 🙂 For today’s card, used a page from Tutti-Frutti 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper as the starting point for my design (it’s the slanted panel in Peekaboo Peach, which is a perfect dreamsicle orange). With my fun set and sweet colors, I created a dreamy trio of treats. Here’s a look at the Cool Treats stamp set: Cool Treats, Stampin' Up! 142982and here’s a look at the coordinating Frozen Treats Framelits Dies:Frozen Treats Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up! 142756
  • Three Cones. I love the texture options for fun cones in the Frozen Treats Framelits Dies. I cropped the wafer cone with the single Framelit die (third across the bottom in the picture above). Simple. The pointy sugar cones were cropped with the triangle Framelits and one of the textured triangles (I used the one on the far left of the bottom row and far right of the bottom row in the picture above). I glued them together with a little Multipurpose Liquid glue for perfect texture. Cool Treats, Frozen Treats Framelits Dies, Fruit Basket, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CTS266I built cute toppers for the two sugar cones with the Frozen Treats Framlelits, too! The cherry is cropped with Crumb Cake and Real Red, while the strawberry is cropped with Lemon Lime Twist and Real Red. Cute, huh?
  • Three Dreamy Colors. My ice cream is made with Berry Burst,  Peekaboo Peach and So Saffron. For each, I stamped the image off once to get a lighter shade – particularly with the Berry Burst. Together, they are a super-sweet trio. If you are inspired by this combination of Berry Burst, Peekaboo Peach and So Saffron, please save this:Stampin' Up!
