Celebration Time for GDP134

My past two posts have focused on the old and the new. On Saturday, I introduced you to the new 2018-2020 In Colors (what a bold, lovely group of colors!) by sharing color comparisons and suggesting color combinations with each (to see that post, click here). On Sunday, I shared the colors and products that are retiring at the end of this catalog period (to read that post, click here).

All that coming and going got me excited to play around with some retiring products in an effort to give them one last spin around the block before packing them away. I love each of these retiring products and will miss them very much, BUT I’m thrilled about the new products we are welcoming in the upcoming catalog. Here’s my card for this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge:

  • Five Retiring Products. My sweet-and-simple card is jam-packed with retiring products. Can you find all five of them? I know you are able, but you also know I’m going to tell you what they are anyway, right? Here are the five products I used on this card that are going away at the end of this catalog period (May 31) or sooner (as these items will be sold while supplies last):
    • Celebration Time Bundle (#145369). I love the sweet simplicity of this bundle of cakes and happy celebrations. The bundle is perfect for birthdays, weddings or other celebrations that call for cake. This bundle makes it SO EASY to create a classy, stylish project.
    • Pink Pirouette. While Stampin’ Up! makes room for an amazing assortment of new colors, some of our favorites are being retired, too. Pink Pirouette is one of the colors that’s going away. To read more about the colors that are retiring, click here.
    • Lots of Labels Framelits Dies. The fun shape that frames the cake and sentiment on my card are from the Lots of Labels Framelits Dies. These dies have been around for so long that they feel like a permanent part of our collection. What a great shape with seven dies in the collection!
    • Archival Basic Black Ink. If you’ve enjoyed working with the Archival inks (Basic Black and Basic Gray) for the past several years, now might be a really good time to stock up. There will be another option for a permanent black ink in the new catalog.
    • Metal Rimmed Pearls. These embellishments have been around for a while and will be missed. If you work with these a lot, be sure to stock up.
  • Build-a-Cake. This sweet cake was so easy and fun to build – and it looks so sweet and classy on this card, don’t you think? Celebration Time, Lots of Labels, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP134, wedding cardHere’s what I did to build my cake:
    • I stamped the cake with Archival Basic Black ink on Pink Pirouette cardstock.
    • Using the cake and pedestal die, I cropped the cake and snipped it along the top and bottom of the cake.
    • Using the same die, I cropped the cake and pedestal with Basic Black cardstock.
    • I glued the pink cake to the black shape beneath it.
    • I added a small metal rimmed pearl as a accent between the cake and the bow.
    • I stamped the sentiment on Thick Whisper White and punched it with the Classic Label punch. I snipped the left side straight and added a banner on the right side.
  • Classy Combo. Pink Pirouette is such a soft pink with a touch of gray (while others like Blushing Bride have more brown). I think it looks so wonderful with black and gray. Since Smoky Slate also have a silver quality to it, the combination of Pink Pirouette and Smoky Slate is very classy. If you like this combination, too, please save this:Stampin' Up!
