Introducing You to More New Colors and New Ink Pads

At Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage event in early April, demonstrators were introduced to some changes in the lineup of colors in the upcoming catalog (the new catalog starts June 1). There’s so much information to take it, so I’ve broken it down into multiple posts – I find it easier to digest that way.

Here’s a summary of what I’ve covered so far – you can click on these links if you missed the original posts:

Today I’m introducing you to the TEN new colors that have joined our permanent color collection and sharing some information about the new design of our Classic Stampin’ Pads. What fun!

Before I introduce you to the ten colors that have been added to the permanent color collection, let’s take a look back at the 2018-2020 In Colors (I shared these in my post on Saturday):

Stampin' Up!'s 2018-2020 In ColorsHow joyous are these bright and cheery colors!? I hope you are as excited to play with these colors as I am – because I’m REALLY excited! In addition to these new colors, six former In Colors are returning to the permanent color collection. Here are the former In Colors that are returning:

Stampin' Up! Returning ColorsThere are some really awesome colors in that collection, huh? It’s so nice to see them back! I’m missed many of them so much.

Ten NEW Colors

Now that we’ve covered those new additions, here are the brand new, never-before-seen colors that are being added to our permanent color families:

Stampin' Up! New ColorsWhat a gorgeous collection of new colors! Stampin’ Up! put a lot of time and effort into selecting colors that fill voids in our color families and replace/update some old favorites (e.g., Soft Sea Foam is a softer version of Pistachio Pudding and gives a light, light green that’s, otherwise, missing). If you missed the colors that are retiring to make room for these new colors, click here.

Here are how these colors compare with similar colors in our current offering – while some are reminiscent of current or past colors, each one offers something very new and exciting:

Color Revamp

With all of the retiring colors and new additions, Stampin’ Up! also made some shifts to the color families. While the family names stay the same (Neutrals,Brights, Subtles and Regals), the colors in each family have shifted a bit. The bright colors are brighter, and the soft colors are softer. As such some colors (like Real Red, which moves from Brights to Regals) seems to fit better in a new category- if you study these changes, they all seem to make sense. Yay!

In addition, the Neutrals includes some dark, rich colors (like Merry Merlot, Mossy Meadow and Night of Navy) that wouldn’t traditionally have been thought of as Neutrals. When looked at with the other colors in the collection, these really seem to be at home with the other Neutrals. What a fun change.

The Brights, Subtles and Regals each have a shade from the rainbow – red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple – and they all line up so nicely. Here’s a look at the new permanent color collection:

New Color Collection, Stampin' Up!In addition, there’s a new color family called Basics, which includes Basic Black, Whisper White and Very Vanilla (giving us room for more colors). Yay! My craft room will look so pretty when I get all of these colors unpacked and lined up! What fun!

New Ink Pads

While Stampin’ Up! was revamping the color collection, they embraced the opportunity to improve stamp pads, too – and the changes are really exciting! Here’s what changed:

  • The case is easier to open. While we’ve grown accustomed to pushing the lid, then flipping the lid, then popping the lid into place, the new pad only requires that we flip it up and pop it into place.
  • The case is smaller. That makes it easier for most people to hold in their hand and doesn’t take up as much space on shelves or in carrying cases. The surface of the foam pad is the same, though.
  • The case is stackable, making the pads easier to store and transport. See the little indentions on the corners of the case below? There are coordinating dots on the bottom of each pad that coordinate.

Here’s what the new ink pads look like:

Lovely Lipstick Classic Stampin' Pad, Stampin' Up!, 147140You may have noticed that all of the current Classic Stampin’ Pads are on the retiring list – even for the colors that are sticking around. That’s because the pads have changed – but the inks have also been updated. Yay! Stampin’ Up! has made improvements to the ink formula to:

  • Reduce ink bubbles.
  • Help you get a smooth coating of ink on the stamp.
  • Help lay down the ink better.

An increase in quality is ALWAYS welcomed! I’ve stamped with a couple of these ink pads, and they are truly wonderful!

  1. Can’t wait to try out that new Granny Apple Green! πŸ™‚

  2. Love all the color combos. Especially glad to see Mint Macaron back.

  3. Not a fan of big changes, so the jury is still out. I’m going to miss Soft Sky and Marina Mist SO much! ?

    • Nancy, I’m sorry to say, but the jury has already deliberated – and it came back with a verdict of “awesome!”. πŸ™‚ I, too, will miss Soft Sky, but I wasn’t using so many of the others. I’m excited for the new colors (that we’ll learn to love just as much) and am always happy to embrace change when change brings better, newer, fresher things. <3

  4. Will the new pads fit in the stamp caddy?

    • Hi Sue! The new pads do rest in the retiring caddy – they just aren’t as snug as the current ones are. I’m hoping Stampin’ Up! will come out with a storage solution for the new pads.

    • So glad I’ve accomplished that goal. It’s a lot of information and important to spread it out and lump it into consumable pieces. Thanks, Robbye!
