Love What You Do & Itty Bitty Greetings

I’m not naturally drawn to soft pinks, but I try my best to give them a perfect foundation when I do work with these soft, sweet shades. A few weeks ago, I shared a card with one of my favorite colors combinations – pink and brown (if you missed that card you can see it here). Today I’m sharing another of my favorite color combinations – pink and gray. Every pink has its own personality and hues of either gray or brown (Blushing Bride has brown undertones, while Pink Pirouette has gray undertones). I used Basic Black, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate to give Pink Pirouette the backdrop it deserves. Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sneak Peeks. My sweet and simple card features two sneak peek items that are brand new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog – and I’m thrilled about both of them! The trio of flowers is stamped with the new Love What You Do stamp set, a photopolymer stamp set that’s part of the Share What You Love Bundles that are currently available for purchase by customers. As part of the Early Release, customers can purchase one of three bundles AND the 2018-2020 In Color ink pads. For more information, click here. Here’s a look at the Love What You Do stamp set: Love What You Do, Stampin' Up! 148042The sweet sentiment is from a stamp set that’s available for demonstrators to purchase during our catalog pre-order. I’m in love with Itty Bitty Greetings – a modern and cool (but still classic) collection of small greetings for all occasions. • Floral Overlay.  I stamped these flowers along the edge of this Whisper White circle so that two of them hung over the edge of the circle. I stamped the flowers again on Pink Pirouette cardstock, added a little Pink Pirouette ink with a Stampin’ Write Marker before snipping them and gluing them down to the white panel. The overlay of the flowers adds a little soft drama to the card that I love. These flowers are really easy to snip, so please don’t give me big praise for my snipping skills. 🙂Love What You Do, Itty Bitty Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Pink Pirouette. Pink Pirouette is one of many Stampin’ Up! colors that is retiring from the color family at the end of May (or when supplies run out). For a look at the others, click here. Even with Pink Pirouette is gone, this classic combination of Pink Pirouette, Smoky Slate and Basic Gray will remain a favorite of mine. If you like this combination, too, please save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Pink Pirouette, Smoky Slate, Basic GrayWhen you look at Pink Pirouette with grays you can see how it pairs with gray – there’s a coldness there. In comparison, there’s a warmness in Blushing Bride that makes it a perfect fit for browns like Crumb Cake and Early Espresso.Stampin' Up! 4. Precious and pretty in these modern colors!

  5. Brian I agree with your fondness of this color combo, must give the Stampin on the edge a try, great idea!

    • Yay! I’m so glad you like it! It really makes a difference in the final image if you position the image just right. Thanks for your comment, Katrina!

  6. I don’t know why but your gorgeous card brought to mind the old song “A White Sport Coat and a Pink Carnation”. I can’t rationalize it except to say that was one of my favorite songs in my youth when a light gray skirt with a pink poodle on it was popular. Every since then I have loved the gray and pink combo. Fabulous card Brian.

  7. Pink and Gray, one of my favorite color combinations. I love how you did the overlapping flowers. and I’m so loving Itty Bitty Greetings. (I was in a slight panic when I saw that Teeny tiny Wishes was going retire!)

    • Thanks, Dianne! I LOVE Teeny Tiny Wishes but haven’t used it in years. I’m THRILLED with this new set and can’t wait to use each and every one of the sentiments. 🙂

Gorgeous! Love the simplicity of making the colors shine with the flowers. I have always liked grays and pink and gray is a favorite too. I had an argyle sweater vest that was done in pinks and grays. I like most of the combinations with gray such as a Daffodil Delight, Real Red, and I bet that new Merlot color will be great too.

  9. Pretty combo (as usual Captain Color) I am a PINK and GREEN combo gal and pink is my fave ,but when I was a teenager I loved gray ….go figure ??
Anyway I must join with everyone to compliment your flower overlap !
I like it ! Something new to try !
Yes,Grace you have me humming that song now !!

  10. Oh I do love pink and gray! Very chic!

  11. Pink and gray are one of my favorite combos, and they shine in this card! I really like the flowers overlapping the edge of the circle, a great touch 🙂

  12. Julie ☀️?? Reardon

Love (and appreciate) your lesson on cool and warm pink tones. You did a great job explaining and proving that with your visuals. You are SO much more than a pretty card maker ?

  13. Somebody made a card just for me. I am totally in love with the color palette you put together. Neutrals with a pop of color always work. Awesome job Brian
