Rooted in Nature for CTS271

We are just three weeks away from the release of Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog. I’m so excited for the ceremonial ribbon to be cut on this catalog – there are SO MANY great, new products inside the pages of this book. My card for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge features an AMAZING new bundle from the catalog that’s certain to be on your wish list. Here’s my card:

CTS271Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Rooted in Nature. How gorgeous is this tree from the new Rooted in Nature bundle? I love all of the images in this set, but this tree might be my favorite (or, at least, until I work with the other images). There’s such a calmness to the design and height of the tree, so I wanted a similar zen-like feel on the rest of my project. This layout and these colors helped me to achieve the exact look I wanted. Here’s a look at Rooted in Nature:Rooted in Nature Bundle, Stampin' Up!, 148353I’ve been playing with this tree, this sentiment from Artistically Asian and these colors for a week – the project pieces have moved around on my table with different layouts and shapes. I was just patiently waiting for the right way to showcase it. This week’s sketch was my answer.
  • Friendship. The sentiment I used is the Japanese Kanji character for “friendship” from the Artistically Asian stamp set. I purchased this set to have an image of bamboo to pair with my panda (from the Party Panda Sale-a-Bration set) – was so happy to have it since it pairs so beautifully with this tree from Rooted in Nature. Rooted in Nature, Artistically Asian, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingBecause the sketch calls for a sentiment that overlaps the two panels, I tried little circles and ovals before deciding I could line them up perfectly with my Stamparatus. I cut my panels of cardstock that would be lined up along the top of each piece. By placing each panel in the same spot on the tool, I was able to stamp both separately and was assured that the sentiment would line up perfectly when the two panels were glued together. <3 Here’s a look at the Artistically Asian stamp set: Artistically Asian, Stampin' Up!, 141781
  • Earthy Color Combination. When I started playing with this tree image, my card featured Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede. I needed one additional color and knew So Saffron would be my addition. If you like this earthy, calm combination of So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede, please save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede
