Having Fun with New Color Charts

The card I shared with you yesterday features four-fifths of the 2018-2020 In Colors (if you missed my festive balloon card, you can see it here). Today I’m sharing a little more fun with Stampin’ Up!’s In Colors, along with some printable charts for you to download and fill out with all your new colors.

What are In Colors?

Stampin’ Up! combines colors into color families (Brights, Subtles, Regals and Neutrals). I love all of Stampin’ Up!’s colors and how we can have paper, ink, ribbon, markers and embellishments in these exact shades. Try buying “red” paper and ink and ribbon at the craft store to see how different they are across products. Anyhow, aside from an occasional overhaul of the color families, Stampin’ Up! keeps the color families relatively stable and complements them with In Colors, trendy collections that are available for two years, giving us a fresh collection of coordinating products. We get 5 new In Colors each year that stay for a “two-year term.” Here’s a look at this year’s In Colors:

Color Revamp

As I mentioned above, Stampin’ Up! is making some big (and wonderful) changes to the color families we’ve come to know over the past years. I’ve shared lots about the new color revamp (you can read more here and here). Some colors are going away, some favorites are returning and some brand new colors are being added. In addition, some colors have moved from one group to another (for example, Real Red is now a Regal – and it makes sense when you see it all together).

Here’s a fun video Stampin’ Up! created to showcase the new color collection:

Color Charts

At my local stamp club last weekend, we made fun projects and assembled Color Charts. When they were done (and after they completed their order forms), I was excited to flip through the new catalog with them. How fun!

I printed color charts on Whisper White cardstock and distributed them to my club members. The charts have all of the colors down the left side of the page and three colors – paper, Stampin’ Pad and Stampin’ Write Marker. We punched, stamped and scribbled samples of each of the new and returning In Colors.

Why make the charts?

  • The charts offer a quick reference for all of the colors and the new color groupings.
  • The charts can help you to inventory your supplies. Ever wonder if you’ve purchased a specific ink pad? Just refer to your handy chart.
  • They are fun to put together – we all love being organized, right?

Here are some photos of my group putting together their charts:

Order You New In Color Stampin’ Pads Today

If you notice in the top, right corner of the last picture above, Marti is reaching for the new ink pads. Look how easily they stack on top of each other in a neat tower (vs. the current stamp pads that don’t stack on top of each other).

The 2018-2020 In Color Classic Stampin’ Pads are available for customers to order now. They are part of the Share What You Love Early Release, and they are offered at a 10% discount. What a great opportunity to see the new colors and play with the new ink pads. Stampin’ Up!’s produced some great color charts. I edited them to remove the various languages (I don’t know French or Japanese, and the charts weren’t effectively teaching me those languages so I removed them). Print these on Whisper White so you, too, can inventory your new, returning and favorite colors. Here are the downloadable charts:

I hope you have fun filling out these new charts and, ultimately, working with the new colors!

  8. I can’t find a Download/print for these charts. I really appreciate your work and would love to organize myself and my clients with their new color inventory. Can you help me?

    • Hi Mary! I would love for you to use these charts and to share with others. If you click on each of the charts above, you can open it in a .pdf (just click on the little piece of paper icon with the down-pointing arrow in the top right corner) and open it with Adobe. You can then save them and print them. I hope that helps.
