Do Something Awesome for FMS341

For today’s sweet-and-simple card, I turned to this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge for inspiration. Their simple sketch gave me lots to play with. I enjoyed it so much that I turned to THREE stamp sets for this inspirational. Here’s my card:

En Route, Banners for You, Birthday Backgrounds, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingAnd here’s the banner for Narelle’s FMS challenge that inspired my card:FMS341Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Three Stamp Sets. Can you name the three stamp sets I used on my simple card? If you can, then you get seven points. I’ve not yet decided the significance of the points, but make sure you write them down – they might be valuable one day. Here are the three stamp sets I used to make this card:
    • En Route. I shared a project last week with the En Route stamp set, a fun set that features travel-themed images and sentiments. You can see that project here. I love this sentiment so much that I set it on the corner of my desk (that’s how I make sure I use it). Lots of hidden gems in this set.
    • Birthday Backgrounds. I love these little explosions from this backgrounds set. The set contains confetti, streamers and other party-themed shapes. I used this same image on a swap card during my trip to St. Louis in May – you can see that project here.
    • Banners for You. This set is filled with great banner shapes and the words you need to fill the banners – and it coordinates perfectly with the Bunch of Banners Framelits Dies. I cut this single banner in half to “extend it” behind the sentiment.
  • Glitter Enamel Dots. You know how I feel about glitter, right? Not. A. Fan. While I do like the shiny look of glitter, I am not a fan of the emotional scarring that comes with it. Stampin’ has made glitter a part of my life, though, with the Glitter Enamel Dots. I adore this variety of 160 spartkly, adhesive-backed dots. Here’s a closeup of the Glitter Enamel Dots on my project: Glitter Enamel Dots, Birthday Backgrounds, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingThere are 160 dots in each package – 10 each of four bright colors (Coastal Cabana, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green and Melon Mambo).
  • Lovely and Gorgeous. I love red and purple together – especially when one is lovely and the other is gorgeous. The combination reminds me of an outfit a member of the Red Hat Society might wear. Both of these colors are new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog – Gorgeous Grape is a new Brights color, and Lovely Lipstick is a 2018-2020 In Color. 1. Wonderful how your pattern mimics the circles on the design. Another simple and cool BK signature card!

  2. very cool card…love the grape!

  3. I’m loving that Gorgeous Grape color and those little explosions but, I especially love the glitter dots! I’m a sucker for anything sparkly and shiny, kind of like a little kid. LOL This card is magnificent and your take on the sketch is so unique. Love it Brian.

    • Thanks so much, Grace! I love all four of the colors included in the Glitter Enamel Dots and will use them a lot. SO many dots and so many sizes of circles. <3

  4. Glitter Dots are going be crowned the King of embellishments!

  5. I’m in love with the gorgeous grape, it looks phenomenal with the lovely lipstick! Those glitter dots are one of my favorite things, and I love how you combined them with the background. Great card, Brian!

  6. Hollo, my friend love your simple card , I need to get that gorgeous purple, maybe next month, shhhhh saving for Convention, lol
So I’m in a spending diet, lol
Hugs to you my lovely friend
    Frenchie ♥️

    • A “spending diet” – I love it! I want you to have Gorgeous Grape, my friend, but it’s more important that you are at Convention so I can hug your neck. Thanks!

  7. Brian you really do, Do Something Awesome Everyday, sharing with us!
    You’re the BEST.

  8. Love this awesome card and the inspiration it will give the recipient. What a great color combo and the glitter dots add a nice sparkle. Your creativity is awesome! Have a wonderful day!

  9. I am so loving all the colors on display in your card Brian. I don’t think that I would have considered pairing Lovely Lipstick with Gorgeous Grape but it really works so beautifully. Question is the Birthday Background stamp suppose to be a flower, because it’s saying fireworks to me. Doesn’t really matter because you’ve created a lovely pattern with it. Great job Brian.

    • Thanks so much, Robbye! It’s just a pattern in the shape of a circle, but I’ve always seen it as a fireworks-like image. Works well with the celebratory sentiment. <3

  10. This card is so beautiful, love the Gorgeous Grape new color and paired with Lovely Lipstick is a winning combination.
The glittery enamel dots are the perfect finishing touch to this fabulous card.
    Thank you for sharing. 🙂

  14. Oh, what a bold and fun color combo. And a perfect use of the sketch (of course). Love this! Always glad to see you at FMS!

    • Thanks so much, Jen! This isn’t what I had in mind when I first set out to play along with this fun sketch, but I’m happy for the inspiration your team provided. <3
