It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who are excited to share our themed projects with you. I’m so honored to be a part of this group of talented stampers!
For today’s Be Inspired Hop, we are creating projects inspired by Fashion. Projects along the hop are designed to celebrate everything fashionable – from couches and bed sheets to shirts and dresses. This hop is pretty much about cloths, clothes and clothing. If you aren’t starting the hop here, then you probably just popped over from the amazing project shared by my talented Canadian friend Carolynn Sander.
For today’s hop I made a card that pulls its appeal from denim. Denim, jeans, dungarees – since our company moved to “casual” dress, it’s what I wear to work every day. Jeans are such a casual fashion choice that can easily be dressed up with the right shirt and shoes. My card today is a casual “way to go” card for a casual friend. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- A Denim Pocket. The Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set and coordinating Pocket Framelits Dies have been around for a while, but they are just as fun as ever – and now that we have a Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, the pocket looks more like denim than ever! How cool is that texture?! I definitely give the pocket a denim look. Here’s a look at the fun images in the Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set: And here’s a look at the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder:
- Building the Banner. Once I had my pocket done, I needed to find a fun, modern way to build a “you rock”-type sentiment that stayed with the casual feel of the card. I knew I’d found my perfect sentiment when I got to the scripted “treat yourself” from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set and completed the saying with “you deserve it” from Broadway Birthday stamp set. I stamped “treat yourself” on Smoky Slate and cropped it with the Tailored Tag punch. I stamped “you deserve it” on a 3/8″ strip of Thick Whisper White and stamped the bottom of “treat yourself” just above so that I could overlay it on the Smoky Slate tag. So easy!
- Creating a Gift Card Pocket. I know, I know. The Pocket Framelits Die (that I used to crop this pocket) has tabs that are perfect to glue to the card for a quick-and-easy gift card or money holder. Once I decided to snip off the tabs, I had to come up with another way to create a pocket (the fact that I created a pocket with a pocket is not lost on me) that gave the right support for a credit card. I flipped the pocket and pocket over and placed the card right where I wanted it to “rest” when tucked inside the pocket. I surrounded the card with strips of Stampin’ Dimensionals and a trio of Dimensionals at the base. These additions lift the pocket AND guide the placement of the card inside so that it sits the way I want it to sit.
