Celebrate and Eat Cake

When my order of new Stampin’ Blends arrived, I immediately organized them into my Stampin’ Blends marker holder – I ordered them by the rainbow of colors. What a lovely site! I’ve made a sweet and simple card today that I’m excited to share. Here’s my card:

Calligraphy Essentials, Blow Out the Candles, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, birthday card

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • New Products. I was inspired to make this card when my new Stampin’ Blends arrived – I used both Poppy Parade and Pineapple Punch to color the images on the card. If you haven’t ordered your new Stampion’ Blends, now’s the time. Here’s a look at the new colors that are available now: New Stampin' Blends ColorsIf you’d like to see all of the Stampin’ Blends colors, CLICK HERE. My card also features two new stamp sets – Calligraphy Elements coordinates with the Calligraphy Essentials Project Kit: Calligraphy Essentials, Stampin' Up!, 146783The balloon that graces my sentiment is stamped and cropped with the Blow Out the Candles bundle: Blow Out the Candles Bundle, Stampin' Up!, 148322
  • CASE’ing Me. If you visit my blog every day (and why wouldn’t you?!), then you might think that hanging a balloon on the word “celebrate” seems familiar to you. That’s because I CASE’d myself. One of my most popular cards in 2016 was this card for an InKing Royalty Blog Hop (you can click on the picture to read the original post):Fabulous Four, Number of Years, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, birthday card, PP282I didn’t use the same colors on sentiment, but the overall concept of the card is similar. I also added a fun sentiment below my “celebrate” to further resolve my request that you celebrate. While I’m bossing you around and demanding that you celebrate, I also want you to “eat cake and enjoy your day” (from the Blow Out Your Candles stamp set:
  • Bright Color Combination. I was talking with a friend this week, and the conversation turned to our favorite color collection (as most discussions often do). I have so many favorite colors, but I don’t think of myself as a “bright colors” guy. When I look back on my cards, though, I’m REALLY happy to use them. Birthday cards are always great with Brights, right? When making a card that features a birthday balloon AND two of the new Stampin’ Blends, Poppy Parade and Pineapple Punch made perfect sense.
