The card I shared yesterday features a gorgeous sentiment from one of several card kits in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog – you can see that card here. Today’s card is also designed with elements from one of the card kits in the catalog, but this time I’ve used some of the papers from the Lots of Happy Card Kit. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
- Lots of Happy Card Kit. As I mentioned above, I pulled the black-and-white striped base and the spray of flowers from the Lots of Happy Card Kit. With a color combination like this one, flowers seems like the perfect choice, right? While the kit comes with Watercolor Pencils, I used a Blender Pen and Stampin’ Write Markers on today’s project (more information below). When I originally played with this kit, I used Stampin’ Blends to color my cards. Here’s a look at the cards you can make with the Lots of Happy Card Kit: Pay attention to the awesome stamps in this kit – they are great!
- Healing Hugs. I love this “Get Well Soon” sentiment from Healing Hugs. The font is fun but still beautiful. I masked off the three little lines in the top, right corner of the sentiment because they distracted me – my eye went right to those lines. It was easy enough to just put a little tape over them before stamping onto the Powder Pink cardstock. Here’s a look at the Healing Hugs stamp set: This set features DistINKtive stamps, patent pending technology that allows lots of depth in the stamped image (remember Heartfelt Thoughts from Sale-a-Bration?). You’ve already seen this DistINKtive flower on the front cover of the 2018 Annual Catalog:
- Painting the Leaves. The flowers I used on my card are a single piece (connected by a small circle in the middle). With my Stampin’ Write Markers, I scribbled color onto a clear block and then pulled some of that ink away with a Blender Pen to color the flowers and leaves. My leaves started with a light layer of Mint Macaron. I lightly added a touch of Tranquil Tide to the base of each leaf, following by a touch of Mossy Meadow. The blending of these colors is magical on the leaves. I “spruced up” the flowers by adding a touch of Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.
Stamp Sets: Healing Hugs Papers: Powder Pink Inks: Stampin’ Write Markers (Powder Pink, Tranquil Tide, Mossy Meadow, Mint Macaron), Basic Black Accessories: Lots of Happy Card Kit, 2-1/4″ Circle punch, Blender Pen, Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the FabFriday Challenge site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this fun color challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
