Falling Flowers for GDP148

There are so many places to find inspiration for the project we make – I love the opportunity to create a project that’s inspired by the art of my fellow team members on GDP. Always a joy! This week we are CASEing a sweet Love What You Do project by Connie Collins, my super-talented, super-star friend.

Here’s my card for this CASE the Designer challenge:

Falling Flowers, Dandelion Wishes, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Here’s the banner for this week’s CASE the Designer Challenge at the Global Design Project. This challenge goes live at 9am EST:GDP148When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own.  When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Falling Flowers. Connie does amazing things with flowers. I was inspired by the beautiful purple flowers in her card. How could I NOT use flowers on my project that CASEs Connie Collins? I stamped these flowers from Falling Flowers with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock and cropped them out with the coordinating May Flowers Framelits Dies. Here’s a look at this stamp set: Falling Flowers, Stampin' Up! 139556I was also inspired by the “beautiful day” sentiment from the Love What You Do stamp set that is the focal point of Connie’s beautiful card. I chose another gorgeous sentiment – this is from the Dandelion Wishes stamp set:Dandelion Wishes, Stampin' Up!, 146744
  • Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends. I colored these big, bold flowers with Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends. The blend of the two colors looks great on these flowers. I used the Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blends to color the coordinating leaves. Falling Flowers, Dandelion Wishes, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingThese alcohol markers make it SO EASY to color with a smooth, streak-free appearance or to create a beautiful, textured image. All of the Stampin’ Blends are in stock right now – here are the new colors: New Stampin' Blends Colors
  • Sweet Color Combination. With all of these new Stampin’ Blends colors, it was easy to find a color combination I love. The pairing of Highland Heather and Mint Macaron is gorgeous. The addition of Crumb Cake just makes them that much sweeter. If you like this combination of Mint Macaron, Highland Heather and Crumb Cake as much as I do, please save this: Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Mint Macaron, Highland Heather, Crumb CakeMy card features a subtle Crumb Cake pattern of Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper.
