It’s so easy to flip quickly past the pages in a catalog that feature carryover products – we know what they are, and we know what they do. As I was flipping through the Christmas-themed projects in Stampin Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog, taking a closer look at some familiar products, I came across a project that used the Seasonal Chums stamp set in a way I loved. I will share that project in a moment, but first here’s a card I made with inspiration from that project:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Inspired. How sweet is this simple project? With just a few layers of cardstock and a couple of fun details, this card came together quickly. There are two stamp sets in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog that, along with coordinating dies, create super-cute tags with a front and back – A Little Wild and Seasonal Chums. I’ll include a link to both sets and coordinating in the links at the base of this post. From the start I either used these images as a tag or snipped around the images to create a single image for a card front. One sample (on page 103 of Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog) created a fun background on wrapping paper and inspired me to make this card. Here’s a look at that project:
- Sweet Elements. The A Little Wild features three fun characters with some adorable elements that add to the fun of the animals. The bear, lion and elephant are accompanied by bees, a flower and grass – and some really sweet sentiments. Here’s a closer look at the A Little Wild stamp set: Not only did I stamp these bears in the background of the card and fill in spaces with the bee’s nest, but I stamped the bear on Crumb Cake and cropped him out with the Little Loves Framelits Dies (and snipped around his left ear to separate him from the tag). I also stamped the image on So Saffron and snipped out the bee to glue down to my bear image.
- Three Warm Colors. My card showcases three warm shades of yellow and brown – So Saffron, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede. There’s a cuteness in the “hello there, honey bear!” sentiment and a warmness in the combination of colors. If you like this trio of So Saffron, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede, please save this:

How cute are these little images? I hope you’ll give them another look if you don’t have them or find a fun way to use them if you do.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Ok, hold on a minute!!!!! You fussy cut that teeny tiny bee????? I’m blown away Mr. King, WOW!! You would need patience and precision and a very sharp pair of scissors, that’s for sure.
And the card is totally sweet and adorable, love the background you created with this cute bear image and I also love that awesome sample of the wrapping paper done the same way, what a great idea.
And of course, I love your color choices and layers.
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for your over-the-top-with-sweetness comments, Maria! You give me so much credit for cutting that bee – and I appreciate it – but I only snipped his little body. Didn’t touch the wings. <3
Such a cute bear! Love how you did the background!
Thanks so much, Linda! I’m so happy you like it. <3
This is a very cute, sweet card, Brian. Love the stamped background and the diecut bear and fussy cut bee! Enjoy your day!
Thanks so much, HJ! As you can tell, I had loads of fun with this card. <3
Sweet card..awesome background stamping!
Thanks so much, my friend! <3
Great card. Did you use the Stamparatus to stamp the repeating background bears?
Thanks so much, Stella! I used my hand Stamp-a-Ma-Jig to line it up (it’s retired, but I still use it every day).
absolutely marvelous. the background is perfection along with the simple little bear!
Thanks, Mary! <3
Maria hit the nail on the head with her comment! Watch the mail -I will be sending you teeny, tiny stuff to fussy cut for me! LOL I just love the background you made and wonder why I never think of using slightly larger stamps to make my backgrounds. I always seem to look to smaller stamps for that. Wonderful, sweet and perfectly stamped card and project. Take a bow for these Mr. King!
Thanks so much, my friend. I’m so glad you like it. It was a fun card (fussy cutting and all) to make. <3
OK, ditto on what everybody said about fussy cutting the bee! Great card.
🙂 Thanks, Rachael! <3
Stamping the bee on So Saffron was brilliant. I am a fussy cutting fan but admire your patience nonetheless! That was tiny.
Haha! Thanks, Dianne! It seems like there’s a solid consensus on the snipping of the bee. <3
Such a sweet card you have today! Love the clever background you’ve created too. I must try to remember this technique for future cards! Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks, Sharon! I’m leaning toward background stamping a lot lately – I’m glad you appreciate it. It’s great fun. <3
