Sneak Peek: Falling for Leaves

There’s a sweet-and-simple sketch this week at CAS(E) This Sketch, so I’ve made a sweet-and-simple card with a wonderful, new stamp set. Falling for Leaves is one of several Fall-themed stamp sets in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog (customers can order from the new catalog starting September 5), and there’s so much to love about it. Here’s my card:

CTS285Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Falling for Leaves Bundle. The Falling for Leaves Bundle is amazing – you’ll be falling for these leaves this Fall (see what I did there?) Not only does the Falling for Leaves stamp set features some great sentiments (I LOVE the styling of this “Thinking of you with a grateful heart” sentiment) and fun, modern images of a variety of leaves, but the coordinating Detailed Leaves Thinlits Dies are a perfect accompaniment. Here’s a look at this bundle: Falling for Leaves Bundle, Stampin' Up! 149938I’ve always thought that leaf sets have a fixed life, thinking they are only good in Autumn. While it’s certainly true that we think of leaves when they change color and Fall, I always find that I use leaves for a variety of projects throughout the year.
  • Double-Dipping. The elements of this card sat on my craft table for a couple of days before I made a last-minute update and glued everything down. I LOVE the gorgeous cutouts of the Detailed Leaves Thinlits Dies, but I wanted something a little more special. I thought about adding some ink to the leaves to add texture and then rolled my eyes at the idea – I just didn’t want to go there (although I may still go there with a similar project). I had my Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder out from another project and decided that would give me what I wanted. I ran the cropped leaves through the Big Shot to get this:Falling for Leaves, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CTS285
  • Soft Colors for Fall. Crumb Cake is a perfect brown for Fall – I’m already using it more and more each day. The other colors – Pear Pizzazz and Grapefruit Grove – are less Fall-like, but I love their softness and sweetness on this Fall-themed card. If you like this combination of Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake and Grapefruit Grove, please save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Grapefruit Grove
