Sneak Peek: Spooky Sweets & Trick or Tweet

I adore Halloween for one reason – the excitement of young children using their imaginations to create characters in fun costumes. It’s the most community-supported dress-up time of the year. I’ll be honest – I’ve never been a fan of the spooky, ghoulish side of Halloween (I don’t like to be surprised, so I refuse to scare others), but “spook” can be fun when it’s playful and light. Today’s card mixes two Halloween stamp sets from Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog to make a spooky & sweet card. Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Spoo-o-o-oky Sets. My card is adorned with two fun stamp sets from Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog – two of three sets in the book that are specifically themed for Halloween. When I received the Bat Punch as a gift on the Alaskan Incentive Trip in July, I quickly created this card with the punch. I love the punch that gets a workout today, too, but is used with the coordinating Spooky Sweets stamp set. Here’s a look at the Spooky Sweets Bundle: Spooky Sweets Bundle, Stampin' Up!, 149973The moon is punched with the Twinkle Builder punch. The sentiment is pulled from a second Halloween stamp set (I shared this card earlier this week with a fun character from the set). • Gorgeous Landscape. Two Designer Series Papers give these bats and fun sentiment a gorgeous backdrop on which to shine. The bats are flying across a gorgeous panel of watercolored Night of Navy from the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper. I LOVE this gorgeous piece of paper – it makes a gorgeous, smoky night sky for Halloween and would just as beautiful on a Christmas card. • Unconventional Halloween Color Combination. To create a sweet, imaginative Halloween card with spooky bats, I reached for unconventional colors for a Halloween card. The combination of Lemon Lime Twist, Flirty Flamingo and Night of Navy, though, works well here. Do you agree? If you like this combination of colors as much as I do, please save this:Stampin' Up! Color Your Season

  1. You are right Brian, Halloween is one most fun days of the year, I love to see the kids and sometimes, their doggies, dressed up in all kinds of “scary” outfits, I kind of dress myself too to give out the candy, sometimes I’m a Faery, sometimes a good Witch, LOL!!
Your card is fun and totally delightful, I love the awesome DSP you picked for your card, the pop of pink really sets your batty friends beautifully.
    Thank you for sharing.

  2. Brilliant mix of the sentiment and your Lemon Lime Twist bats! Using Flirty Flamingo took this card straight to WOW!

    • Thanks, Mary! The moment I saw that sentiment, I knew how I’d use it. I loved your project last week that used soft colors for Halloween and HAD to try it myself. <3

  3. Brian, I really like your non-traditional color combinations for Halloween!

  4. You make those bats look so cool!!! Fun card and colors!

  5. Well, you had me at PINK ! Very original and fresh !
Cute card and I guess I need to get my Twinkle Twinkle dsp out and think about that blue one`s possibilities !
I am also a non spooky or scary Halloween type !

  6. This is adorable. I love the bats, too cute!

  7. Love the Lemon Lime Twist bats! You are the clever one!

  8. This bundle was the first I put on my list for my next order! I think it’s going to be lots of fun to play with and I agree that the Lemon Lime Twist is definitely a great color for Halloween, especially on the face of a witch. Reminds me of seeing “Wicked” in Manhattan. The saying from the Trick or Tweet set couldn’t be any more perfect. Great card, fun card.

    • Thanks so much, Grace! I’ve seen “Wicked” three times in NYC and loved it every time. I’m so glad you like this card and these fun bats – can’t wait to see what you make with them. <3

  9. You are the king of color combos my friend – this is fabulous!

  10. You are truly the master of the DSPs! Love how you coordinate them, and who would have reached for Twinkle Twinkle on a Halloween card!
