Merry Christmas with Blended Seasons

Time is ticking – and I don’t want you to miss out on the bundle and watercolor pencils in Stampin’ Up!’s special promotion in August. The Blended Seasons Bundle is an all-seasons stamp set that you’ll love, and the coordinating Stitched Seasons Framelits Dies are amazing, too! I made a Christmas card with the bundle for today’s project:

Don’t forget! The bundle goes away at the end of August – or when supplies are sold out. I don’t want you to wake up from your slumber on September 1 and immediately say (with pointer finger in the air), “I forgot to buy that amazing bundle from Brian King, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.” Let’s seal the deal now so you don’t have to worry. 🙂

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Blended Seasons. During August (or when supplies run out), Stampin’ Up! is offering a selection of new products that should definitely be on your “must have” list. The new bundle is called Color Your Season, and here’s a look at the products that are now available:

    • Stitched Seasons Framelits – 149013

The stamp set is pretty spectacular (it’s a wonderful, all-year-round set), and the Framelits are a must-have. Here’s a closer look at the bundle: Blended Seasons Bundle, Stampin' Up! 149894Here’s a two-page flyer that shows you everything in the bundle:

Today’s card features the Stitched Seasons Framelits Dies (what a gorgeous shape with stitching on both sides of the cut!) and the sweet bell from the Blended Seasons stamp set. I adore both – and the combination of the two is quite lovely. Here’s a video shared by Stampin’ Up! to showcase this bundle and the assortment of watercolor pencils (also available only through the end of August:

  • Building My Stitched Showpiece. I really enjoyed playing with the Stitched Seasons Framelits Dies for this card. My card (and the focal image) took a lot of turns before I came up with something I loved – that process can be frustrating under a deadline, but I always enjoy the creative process when time allows. Here’s how I built my stitched showpiece: Blended Seasons, Snowflake Sentiments, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Christmas cardI cropped a base with the middle-sized die and Old Olive cardstock. I stamped this sentiment from Snowflake Sentiments on a 1-3/4″ strip of Whisper White cardstock and cropped it right where I wanted it inside the die. Blended Seasons, Snowflake Sentiments, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Christmas cardI added thin strips of Real Red above and below the sentiment and snipped them along the shape of the edge. Blended Seasons, Snowflake Sentiments, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Christmas cardThe bell was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends (Real Red – available in the upcoming Holiday Catalog, Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate). I cropped the bell with the outline from the Stitched Seasons Framelits Dies and popped it up next to the sentiment.
  • Christmas Colors. Real Red and Old Olive are a classic red and green for Christmas. I was all set to go with a Crumb Cake base and background paper on this card when a “who put that chocolate in my peanut butter?” moment occurred. I accidentally tossed this Gray Granite piece of Twinkle Twinkle, discarded from another project, on top of my project and decided it was the perfect color and background for my project! 1. Yes, yes!! this bundle is absolutely amazing, perfect for every season of the year plus other fun occasions.
I love the double stitch die, the shape of it is so pretty and anything you put inside it looks amazing.
Love what you did to the sentiment on your card, the red strip is such a wonderful accent and the little bell is a super sweet detail.
    Thank you for sharing.

    • Thanks so much, Maria! I really had fun with this card. I set out to make a super-simple, straightforward card … and then kept playing with it until I found something I loved. Glad you like it. <3

  2. Just when I thought I couldn’t imagine a great way to use the bell, you master it! Perfect blend of coloring, pattern and holiday sentiment!

    • Thanks, Mary! The bell was my goal on this card – it’s the one focal image I hadn’t yet used. Glad you like it – I had fun with this one. <3

  3. Great job, Brian, on figuring out a way to use the bell. Love the clean, crisp look of this bright card. Have a wonderful day!

  4. Nice selection of cards. I will especially miss those Framelits.

  5. Sometimes the tiniest detail makes all the difference on a card. To me that was the two red strips above and below your message with the bell on the side. Those little strips of red are what brought my eye right to the center. The parade of cards was a great look back at what you can do with this set. Love today’s Christmas card. I really do need to get busy and start making some. Great job as always Brian.

    • Thanks so much, Grace! The strips were what I needed to get the look I wanted (for the reasons you state). I’m so glad you like it and always love to hear from you. Thanks, my friend.

  6. Awesome layering/paper piecing here. Great card, too!

  7. Brian,
Your signature clean and precise aesthetic always come through on your projects, and I love that. Beautiful cards!

    • Thanks so much, Barb! I appreciate that more than you can know. While I try to put a different spin on everything I make, my “signature” still comes through. Thanks!

  8. Great card. I can see at times the red thin strips can really make it showcase something. I need to remember this idea. I am trying to decide if I should buy another pack of the watercolor pencils. A customer was using them and one is missing. I used the flirty flamingos for my pigs so I think I will get another pack in case she doesn’t find it. Thanks for the reminder before they go away.

  9. Nice tutorial on the label on the first card (and so perfect). Love that stitching! So many beautiful cards, love them all.
