Scare Up a Little Fun with Spooky Sweets

How exciting that Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog is live! It has been so fun sharing some of the new products over the past month, and I’m excited to see what my customers are ordering. The launch of a new catalog is always a thrilling time. Halloween is the first holiday of the Autumn season, and I’ve created a fun card using two of the new Halloween stamp sets in the new catalog. Here’s my card:

  • Spooky & Fun Halloween Sets. My card showcases images from two fun stamp sets in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog – 2/3 of the sets in the book that are specifically themed for Halloween. I love the Spooky Bats Punch – it’s fine on its own, but it’s magical with the stamped bat from the Spooky Sweets stamp set. The smoke over the moon also comes from this stamp set. Here’s a look at the Spooky Sweets Bundle: Spooky Sweets Bundle, Stampin' Up!, 149973The “scare up a little fun” sentiment is pulled from a second Halloween stamp set – Trick or Tweet. This set showcases some fun animals in fun costumes – but the sentiments are really, really great. Here’s a look at the Trick or Tweet stamp set: Trick or Tweet, Stampin' Up! 147722Go ahead – add both of these sets to your wish list. 🙂
  • Spooky Clouds. The bat and sentiment are bold, but the cloud that covers the moon is wispy and mysterious. Unlike many “watercolor marks” in several stamp sets, this one is designed to be a cloud (in my opinion) – and it’s a perfect cloud. I stamped the cloud in Basic Gray ink on the Smoky Slate background and on the Crushed Curry moon (punched with a 2″ Circle punch). I glued the moon to the background, layering the clouds right over top of each other for a seamless transition. • A Spooky Combination of Colors. I’m so accustomed to orange and black on Halloween cards that I almost, instinctively, cut orange cardstock for the base of my card. I really love, though, the mix of grays with the pop of yellow here. It’s so warm and so dark – but still festive and fun. Of course there’s black and white, but I love the mix of other colors.
