Sometimes I wish I weren’t so particular. Today’s card underwent three “final” versions before arriving at this fourth one. My Christmas card features products from Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog – with one exception. The star of the show (pun intended) is cropped from the Joyous Noel 6″ x 6″ Glimmer Paper, a new pack glimmer paper from Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog. Here’s my card which is inspired by a CAS(E) This Sketch challenge:
And here’s the banner for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge that inspired my card:
- Star of Wonder. I used one stamp set and one set of dies for this card – both are in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog. The cityscape of Bethlehem and star are found in the Bethlehem Edgelits Dies – the dies coordinate with the Night in Bethlehem stamp set, but I did not use that set here. While the dies are designed to layer with each other (and look great when they are), I only used select images from the smaller die. Here’s a look at the Bethlehem Edgelits Dies: The sentiment is pulled from the Star of Wonder stamp set, which coordinates with the Starlight Thinlits Dies. Here’s a look at that set:
- Copper. I wish I could just mail this card around to each every one of you so you could see it for yourself. There’s no photograph that can capture the shimmer of the Copper Glimmer on this star. The star of this show is the copper star I cropped with the Joyous Noel 6″ x 6″ Glimmer Paper. That’s right – I used Glimmer Paper, and this paper didn’t shed all over the place. Gotta love that! 🙂 Here’s a closer look at this star on my project:Here’s a look at the beautiful colors (Copper, Merry Merlot and Tranquil Tide) in this pack of 6″ x 6″ Glimmer Papers:
- Twinkle Twinkle. I’m sometimes wrong. I know, it’s hard to believe. When Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog was released, I wasn’t convinced I would use the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper very much, but I got it anyway. I’ve since ordered multiple packs! Of all the patterns in this pack of papers, I love this starry night background the most. I’ve used it on inspirational cards, Halloween cards and now a Christmas card. How lovely is this watercolored background?! Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper:
Stamp Sets: Star of Light Papers: Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper, Night of Navy, Crumb Cake Inks: Whisper White Craft Accessories: Bethlehem Edgelits Framelits Dies, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

These sets are some of my most favorite! Can’t wait to get my hands on the glimmer paper! Beautiful card!
The glimmer paper is really beautiful and is appropriately non-sheddy. You’ll love it. Thanks, Candy! <3
Gorgeous card Brian!
Thanks, my friend! <3
Love seeing this amazing die set make a return to the Brian King stage! The Twinkle paper is perfection!
Thanks, Mary! I’ve really made good use of this paper and this die set. <3
I felt the same way about the Twinkle, Twinkle paper but have used it so much! Love your card. Proud that you used the Glimmer Paper without incident.
Thanks, Dianne! I’m quite proud of myself. 🙂 When we saw this paper on the cruise, I could tell it was “less sheddy” – love that.
Perfect background for a perfect card…love the glimmer star!
Thanks, Windy! I just love this paper – might need to place another order so I have lots of it. 🙂
Such a fabulous Christmas card Brian. It’s never too early to get started making Christmas cards. This card is a great inspiration for me to get going before I get caught short like I did last year. LOL Thanks for the inspiration Brian. Just what I needed.
Yay! I’m so glad to inspire you to create, Grace! That’s what it’s all about. <3
Beautiful card, Brian!! Worth all the revisions!

Pretty pretty card . Love that Bethlehem theme . The dsp is perfect for this night sky scene ! Yay !!
You are so right about the Glimmer Paper not shedding . It is the first that I have had that does not come off on your fingers and such. I got it because the colors offered are just so pretty …Tranquil Tide and Merry Merlot are stunning !!
I love the colors in this pack of glimmer paper, too! Thanks, Sonny! I’m so happy you like the card. <3 Took me a while to arrive at this version. <3

What a GREAT take on the sketch Brian! That background DSP, the copper glimmer star, and the Bethlehem scene are fabulous together!
Thanks so much, Jen! I would have never made this card were it not for the awesome sketch. <3 Glad you like it. 🙂
