Joy with Feathers & Frost

Feathers & Frost is one of the first stamp sets I fell in love with when I first flipped through Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog. I love the square wreath and the gorgeous sentiments – even the birds in this set won me over a bit (and I’m picky about my bird images). I was so excited about this set that I skipped over it when placing a multiple demonstrator pre-orders in August, assuming I’d already picked it up. Today, I’m sharing my first card with this now-inked-up set – and, of course, I featured the wreath. Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Feathers & Frost. The sentiment and wreath are from Feathers & Frost, a fun and versatile set in the Holiday Catalog. I stamped the wreath with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock. Once it dried, I cropped it with the largest of the Layering Squares Framelits Dies and colored the leaves and berries with the Shaded Spruce and Real Red Stampin’ Blends Combos. • All is Bright. The background panel on the front of this card isn’t the most noticeable element of my card, but it’s still a gorgeous element. This textured green-on-green (it appears to be a mix of Call Me Clover and Shaded Spruce is from the All is Bright Designer Series Paper. While most of the pages feature Christmas standards like lights and holly, this page of green provides a gorgeous backdrop for a simple card. • A Christmas Mix. Shaded Spruce is a gorgeous, rich green that adds a new element to traditional Christmas colors. You can almost smell the pine in this dark green. I, instinctively, paired it with Real Red (I mean, the berries just needed to be red) and added Pool Party to the mix to soften both and pull (a little) away from the traditional reds and greens. Pool Party goes well with both and pulls them together beautifully. If you like this mix of Real Red, Pool Party and Shaded Spruce, please save this:Stampin' Up! 1. Love your cards and your signature layers! Didn’t know that you were picky about birds. Anyway, I also like those birds, well – the whole stamp set!

  2. Love your card today Brian especially the colors! Love the simplicity of the wreath too. Nice job!

  3. Love this beautiful card with all the layers and color combo. I’ve saved it. Have a wonderful day!

  4. Great card. I have been tempted to scoop up this set just for the square wreath. It just spoke to me saying luscious layers. You know a small town with not many physical friends I find myself talking to the dog, birds and stamps. They are good friends you know and rarely talk back. But I just couldn’t decide on a third color as white just made it seem too white for my liking. Well, wouldn’t you know you came to the rescue with that third color plus the addition of adding a panel in the center too. I figured the little birds were just a bonus to go with some great sentiments. I still love the idea of a square wreath so I think I might have to add this to my next order. One of life’s mysteries for me was why are boxwood breathes usually round and not boxy shaped since it is Norwood!?!

  5. I think the birds in the set are the cutest bird stamps I’ve seen. They so remind me of the robust Robins that invade my yard every spring. This card is just the perfect card for the Christmas season. Joy pretty much says it all and your color combo is fabulous. As always, a great job Brian!
