Simply Thankful for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group! I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you. I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.September Blog HopWelcome to InKing Royalty’s September Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by popular songs – this month’s song is “September Morn,” a Neil Diamond classic from the late ’70’s. As you can guess, our Blog Hop today is filled with projects that are inspired by the beauty of Autumn – September is when the air becomes crisp and the leaves start to fall. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Simply Thankful

My card for today’s blog hop combines two suites from Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog – (1) the featured stamp set from the Country Lane Suite of products and (2) the featured Specialty Designer Series Paper and dies from the featured bundle from the Frosted Floral Suite of products. I’m thrilled with how beautifully they worked together to make my September Morn card. Here’s my card:

Country Home, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Country Home. Country Home is the featured stamp set in the Country Lane Suite of products. While the jug, pitcher and coordinating flowers have a very rustic feel, the sentiments in the set are bold and modern (and perfect for any show of thankfulness). I initially wondered why these two were paired together (it seemed like an odd pairing) – until I saw these rustic images EVERYWHERE. They are in magazines, home decor settings and craft stores. How chic! Stampin’ Up! was on trend with this modern, fresh set! Country Home, Stampin' Up! 147678For my card today, I inked up the “simply thankful for all the good things” sentiment with Tranquil Tide ink, added tape over “for all the good things” and stamped onto Thick Whisper White cardstock. I cropped the sentiment with a Stitched Shapes Framelits oval. I love the simplicity of these dies. Here’s a closer look: Country Home, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Frosted Floral & First Frost. I SO love that sentiment! Still, the star of this card is the Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper. You can’t understand the beauty of this paper unless you see it in person – you’ll slowly shift it back and forth to let the light catch the shimmer on each page. The paper is unbelievably gorgeous with beautifully watercolored images. Here’s a look at the images and colors in this must-have pack of papers (I used the second and third pages on the bottom row):Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 147800To accent my sentiment and tie it into the paper behind it, I cropped several accents with one of the dies in the coordinating Frosted Bouquet Framelits Dies, part of the First Frost Bundle. • Stunning Color Combination. My card features a gorgeous color combination that was pulled right from the Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper. I love the warmth of the blues, browns and grays in these designs. I was most drawn to the combination of Tranquil Tide and Soft Suede – a classic beauty. I cropped three accents from the Frosted Bouquet Framelits Dies – one of each of these colors: Country Home, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingThat picture shows shows the beautiful shine of this paper. 1. What a gorgeous card Brian! Love that color combination.

  2. Gorgeous for fall and such a beautiful floral paper. Love the stitching around the sentiment and the greenery tucked below!

    • Thanks so much, Mary! I struggled with adding the greenery (because I loved it with and without). In the end, I layered it in since it added a lovely texture (and I’d already cut it out). πŸ™‚

  3. Pretty ! This dsp is enchanting with that subtle sheen. In response to your decision to add the greenery I think this is the year of “MORE”.
I think the trend is more sprigs and leaves and twine ,etc.
Like you I hesitate not to over do. But it is “IN” ….and your choice was a pretty texture addition !! Just the right touch .
Oh boy ! I get to BLOG HOP !!

    • Thanks so much, Sonny! I’m so glad you like it – these sprigs are everything. I really love them. Glad you agree with my decision to include them. Hope you loved the hop! <3

  4. Beautiful card. So many nice features. My two favorites are the springs and the Stitched Shapes oval. Can’t wait to see the rest of the hop.

  5. Brian – this card is gorgeous. I love all of the textures

  6. Beautifully done Brian.

  7. HI Brian- Your card is gorgeous (as usual)! Your paper combination created the perfect color combo for Fall. Love the frond accents.

  8. Brian! I love this! Of course you made the most beautiful card with the two things I wasn’t going to order, so now I’m fully enabled.

    • I love to enable, Denise! Truth is – you need all of these products. These images and colors and textures will look lovely in your “just outside of town” home. <3 Thanks!

  9. Oh so beautifully fall! Love the paper and the colors you used! i have been thinking of cutting that sentiment apart……maybe I will just tape it off!

    • Thank, Linda! I just love this paper – and the warmth in these two pages is unmistakable. If you don’t plan to use the second part of the sentiment, cut it off. The “f” gets a little cut off. <3

  10. I love that Farmhouse and Country decorating have finally come into their own in the decorating world. I just am so comfortable with the rustic and simplistic style. Your card is a perfect example of soft colors being effectively used during a season of such bright colors. I just love it. Great job Brian.

    • Thanks so much, my friend. I’m so glad you like the card – I’m in love with this paper and planning my use of the rustic images in the Country Home stamp set. <3

  11. The cards that are shown today are gorgeous, but how do I save them on Pinterest to remember how to do them Brian?

    • Thanks so much, Joetta! This paper is mindbogglingly gorgeous! If you are looking at my blog on a computer, you can hover your mouse over the image – a little “Pin it” or “Save” button will come up that allows you to add the link for the post to Pinterest. You can also add it with the Pinterest button (third one) under SHARE THIS at the base of the post before the comments. Alternatively, you can follow me on Pinterest and Pin from there. πŸ™‚ I hope that helps. Email me if you have questions. <3

  12. Great card as usual. I was so surprised when I received this DSP, I had not even noticed it in the catalog but it so pretty. So glad you made a card with it that I can sort of CASE away eventually. I had to smile as I totally missed the soft suede and white sprigs until I read your comments. I did like the tranquil tide sprig and noticed it! Love the cropped sentiment as that is what I had planned on doing when I eventually get the set. I had a good time hopping around and will go back and leave some comments etc.

  13. Awww…thanks so much, Chris! I’m so glad you like the card – this paper is amazing. Thanks, too, for hopping through the other posts. <3

  14. Simply a beautiful card!

  15. Wow, you’ve created such a 3D look with a relatively clean and simple card. Beautiful!

  16. Wow! Beautiful Card. I like the sprigs in the different colors to pick up the colors in the gorgeous dsp. πŸ™‚

  17. Such a beautiful card Brian….as always! Great hop today!

  18. I am looking at Pinterest while I travel and just saw this card. It’s stunning! Love your mix of color and embellishments. The others in your blog hop are wonderful too.

  19. Beautiful….just beautiful – a true Brian King card!

  20. GREAT Card Brian! Love the colors, the layering, the DSP and the sprigs too! STUNNING!

  21. Wow! Thanks so much, Judy! I’m so glad you like the card. This paper and these dies are incredible. <3
