A Dashing Christmas Card for FabFri147

During the month of September, Stampin’ Up! is hosting a special promotion to encourage customers to place big orders – I LOVE those kinds of promotions. <3 For every order over $250, you can earn a pack of Dashing Along Designer Series Paper – an exclusive pack of gorgeous papers that pulls some of our favorite patterns from past papers and delivers them in a gorgeous combination of Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Whisper White. Here’s a look at these papers:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • More About Dashing Along. How gorgeous are the patterns and colors in the Dashing Along Designer Series Paper?! Let me answer that question for you – it’s VERY gorgeous! As I mentioned above, this pack of papers pulls from familiar designs from the past. What a wonderful treat! Here’s a closer look at the colors and patterns in this incredible pack of papers:Dashing Along Designer Series Paper, Brian King 149903You can earn a pack of Dashing Along Designer Series Paper with a $250 order between now and Sunday. You’ll receive 4 sheets of three double-sided designs. That makes the patterns perfect for your Christmas card projects! I suggest you just put in two $250 orders so you can rack up two packs of this paper. Great tip, huh? 🙂
  • Prettier Pines. I love the gorgeous pines from the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies. There are such great accents for Holiday cards. This FabFriday sketch includes little elements above and below the sentiment, and I instinctively reached for these dies (and they were a natural fit for the sentiment I stamped with the Christmas Pines stamp set and cropped with a gorgeous shape from the Foliage Frame Framelits Dies). Here’s a look at the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies: Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies, Stampin' Up! 141851I placed my cropped pines on an old backing from a set of Stampin’ Dimensionals and painted them with my Wink of Stella brush. The waxy backing doesn’t “grab” the Wink of Stella, so the glittery ink stays on top of the sheet. That allows you to get more out of your ink – rather than just soaking it into a piece of scrap paper. 🙂 Paint elements on a card with Wink of Stella for additional shine, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingHere’s a closer look at the glittery pines on my card:Christmas Pines, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Christmas Card
  • A Little Shaded Spruce. While the Dashing Along Designer Series Paper includes Shaded Spruce as the paper’s rich green, the page I chose only features two shades of Cherry Cobbler. The pines (appropriately) look so gorgeous in Spruce. If you like this combination of Crumb Cake, Shaded Spruce and Cherry Cobbler, please save this:Stampin' Up! 3. Gorgeous paper and Wink of Stella always adds that “final touch”! Such a pretty card Brian!

  4. Brian, “Pretty Pines” is one of my favorite die sets from Stampin’ Up! and you just showed us a sample of the gorgeous cards we can create with it.
This set is a must have and one you’ll use again and again when the Holidays come around.
Love the glittery accents on the pine leaves makes your card elegant and even more beautiful and guide your eyes toward the lovely sentiment.
    Thank you for sharing.

    • Thanks so much, Maria! That’s what I loved most about this sketch – how the elements pull you right to the sentiment. Thanks for always leaving such kind, generous comments. <3

  5. Nice choice on the DSP. ;). Love the tip on using Dimensionals paper for Wink of Stella application.

    • Thanks, Dianne! That works for applying SNAIL adhesive, too. The adhesive just rolls right off. With this, you can just wipe off the excess glitter wash and start on the next. <3

  6. Beautiful card..love the bling on the pines/berries!

  7. I love the way you put some sparkle on the branches. I’m thinking the new shimmer paint could be used the same way. I’m going to try that.

  8. Wink, Wink! The perfect touch for bling. Sweet design!

  9. Beautiful! You used my favorite DSP in the entire pack. I love how you added shimmer to the pine boughs, and I appreciate the tip about using the paper in which the Dimensionals come for applying the Wink of Stella. Absolutely perfect all around.

  10. Thanks for the tip! Love the card and the paper. I cut up my pack to share with my few customers but I still have a couple 1/2 sheets of this pattern I think. I will be CASEing this as it is just gorgeous! I just used up all the dimensionals on a sheet so I slipped it back in my “take it” box. My “take it” box is a Minon lunch box – my husband likes to wear denim overalls when working in the yard etc. Half the time he has a gold T-shirt on (we are Hawkeyes after all and bleed black and gold) under it. Susan Itell sent me the box by the way. Anyway, with Mike’s pot belly and black rimmed glasses I dubbed him a minon. Thank goodness he doesn’t just have the one eye. One of my stamping friends and neighbor choked on her Diet Pepsi when I asked her if he didn’t look like one!
