Sending Thankful Thoughts with Flourish Filigree

Donna Mikasa has created a fun sketch for us this week. I couldn’t wait to ink up my Flourish Filigree stamp set for this project, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out. Simple elements make a simple card. Here’s my card for this week’s challenge:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Flourish Filigree. If you passed by this stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog and kept on flipping, then please feel the power of my finger as it shakes at you. This flourish is gorgeous and perfect for so many types of projects. I inked up the image with Tranquil Tide ink, stamped it off on scrap paper once and then stamped the Tranquil Tide card base for a faint tint of the image. I love the effect – it’s there, but it doesn’t steal the attention from the sentiment and heart. Here’s a look at the sentiments and images in the Flourish Filigree stamp set:Flourish Filigree, Stampin' Up!, 147870While this stamp set is designed to coordinate with the Pretty Label Punch (a must-have punch), I decided to punch this sentiment with the Tailored Tag Punch (also a must-have punch). I love how the bold angles and straight edges play against the curves of the heart and the flourish behind it. Here’s a look at the Tailored Tag Punch:Tailored Tag Punch, Stampin' Up!, 145667
  • Beautiful Trio. So many of you are great at creating beautiful collages on your cards – I have a hard time randomly assembling elements as a collage, but this sketch allowed me to easily build this sweet collage of elements that work beautifully together. Here’s a closer look at the focal point of my card:Flourish Filigree, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CTS293This picture gives you a closer look at the faint impression left by the stamped off filigree image on the background of this panel. The Soft Suede band pulls color from the Soft Suede card base. The sweet, oblong heart is cropped with the Takeout Thinlits Dies – a perfect accent behind this sweet sentiment.
  • Rich Color Combination. While my card doesn’t feature any Designer Series Paper, the colors I used are pulled directly from the Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog. What a beautiful collection of colors – the gem-like tones of Tranquil Tide and Rich Razzleberry really shine against the warm Soft Suede.
