Grateful for Someone Like You with Falling for Leaves

It has been cool in Atlanta this weekend (it’s been in the 60’s and low 70’s) – my kind of weather. It really put me in the mood for a lovely Fall-themed project, so I reached for Falling for Leaves and some beautiful, warm colors. I’m so happy with the result – here’s my card:

  • Two New Products. When I was finished with today’s card, I was so proud of myself for sticking with one stamp (rather than combining multiple stamp sets in one project) – until I realized I had, in fact, used two stamp sets. [insert surprised face] The star of this show is the big, bold leaf that was stamped with Falling for Leaves and cropped with the Detailed Leaves Framelits Dies. With all the gorgeous sentiments in the Falling for Leaves stamp set, I reached for the gorgeous sentiments in the Country Home stamp set for this card. I stamped this sentiment right on the Grapefruit Grove band of cardstock from the Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at the Country Home stamp set: Country Home, Stampin' Up! 147678
  • Gorgeous Colors. I used three Stampin’ Blends to color the elements on this bold leaf: the Light Cajun Craze, Dark Cajun Craze and Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends. By blending some of these colors on select elements of the leaf and simply coloring other with a clean block of color, I added some beautiful depth to this image. One features a lovely, textured Cajun Craze and Grapefruit Grove panel and one is just Grapefruit Grove. I love how they support this colored leaf. • Color Combination. I knew I wanted to work with Cajun Craze when I set out to make this card. Little did I know that Grapefruit Grove and Calypso Coral would make their way into my project (and I couldn’t be happier). 3. Happy Fall…sweet card..like the textures of the background and your leaf coloring!

  4. Love the color combo. This large leaf reminds me of the Variegated Leaf set [I think that was its name] of a couple years back, but as Mary said, this card feels fresh and modern. Nature’s Poem is such a versatile collection of DSP. You put it to perfect use. TFS

  5. I’m completely enjoying the Autumn Season and this card is one of the many reasons why I love it.
Everything about it is beautiful I especially like the way you colored this gorgeous leaf, the shadow around the center of it makes it look 3D and the colors are warm and rich.
Thank you for sharing, my friend.
    Hugs.

    • Thanks so much, Maria! I really had a great time coloring this leaf – I need to play with my Stampin’ Blends more often. Thanks so much for your kind comments. <3
