Happy Christmas Wishes for CTS

Three diagonal stripes and a sentiment – that’s what Chrissy Larson gave us as inspiration for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge. That gave me everything I needed to make a super-bright, super-fun Christmas card with one of my favorite papers from this year’s Holiday Catalog and a fun sentiment I’ve been wanting to use. Here’s my card for this week’s challenge:

And here’s the banner for Chrissy’s fun sketch challenge that inspired my card (this challenge will go live at 10am EST this morning):

CTS295Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • White Flocking. Did you know that four of the designs in the Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper have white flocking on them? The felt flocking is used as snow in some pieces and added to clothing in others. The white stripes on the candy cane panel I used today are designed with this flocking material – makes you want to just run your finger of the paper. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper.Santa's Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 147809And here’s a closeup of the flocking on this paper (don’t you just want to touch it?):Flourish Filigree, Santa's Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingSanta’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper also coordinates with the Santa’s Signpost Framelits Dies – you can cut out lots of the cute images in this pack of papers. • Flourish Filigree and a Fun Background. The sentiment on this card is from Flourish Filigree, a beautiful stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog (I used the one in the bottom, left corner):Flourish Filigree, Stampin' Up!, 147870 I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink, colored the border around it with a Pool Party Stampin’ Blend and punched it out with the Pretty Label punch. Easy! To add a little more to the sentiment, I cropped a leafy circle from Foliage Frame Framelits Dies and cropped them to fit nicely behind the sentiment:Foliage Frame Framelits fit the Pretty Label Punch, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Bright and Bold. While the combination of Pool Party, Granny Apple Green and Poppy Parade would not normally say “Christmas!” to me, the pattern of candy cane stripes and (of course) the Christmas sentiment force them to conform beautifully. The soft Pool Party base really reigns in the brightness of the other colors, creating a lovely balance of tones. Your cards are always so fresh and bold. Backdropping your sentiment (point of interest) with the strong red stripes was a brilliant step. Always enjoy seeing your creations.
