This is for you!

I’m not ready to move away from Christmas cards (there are still plenty to share), but I jumped into February with today’s card for the Global Design Project sketch challenge. Using the Takeout Treats Bundle from the Halloween section of Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog, I created a card that’s filled to the brim with love – perfect for Valentine’s Day (or any day when you want to show your love to someone else). Here’s my card:

And here’s the sketch for the challenge that inspired my card (this challenge will go live later this morning):

  • Takeout Treats Bundle. I’ve fallen head-over-heals with the Takeout Treats Bundle that debuts in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog. I’ve used the dies to make a Christmas box (you can see it here) and a Halloween box (you can see it here), but I used the same dies today to make a card. Here’s a look at the variety of shapes and sentiments in the Takeout Treats Bundle:Takeout Treats Bundle, Stampin' Up! 149990I love the shapes and sentiments in this bundle – I love these XO hearts (the inspiration for the background I created on the card), and I love the “frankness” of this “This is for you!” sentiment. Such fun, right?! I punched a little hole in this tag and tied a twine bow to make it feel more like a tag on a gift. Here’s a closer look at the collage of elements on the focal tag of this card:Takeout Treats, Letters for You, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Letters for You. The Large Letters Framelits became a MUST-HAVE product last year when the Eclipse Technique became super-popular. The technique is still red hot – and rightfully so. If you missed the technique, click here. Well, here’s the bad news – you decided to get the dies, but you also need the Letters for You stamps that go with the dies. Trust me – you need them. Here’s a look at Letters for You photopolymer stamp set:Letters for You, Stampin' Up!, 141968While these stamps coordinate perfectly with the Large Letters Framelits Dies (they add a lovely texture to the die-cut letters), they can also be used without the dies. I used the “X” and the “O” to create a fun background pattern on my card by stamping them repeatedly over the Melon Mambo background. How fun!Takeout Treats, Letters for You, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Mix of Colors. Light blue always looks great with bright pink – the two balance each other well. While this card features a big span of Melon Mambo, the gray and blue spaces provide a great counterbalance. The layers of my “tag” include elements with all three of these colors, mimicking the balance of these colors on the rest of the card. 10. Well Brian – if you ask me the Melon Mambo is a gorgeous pink and your fabulous card is perfect for October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I think I may CASE this card for my “thanks for your support” cards for everyone that contributed to our team to allow us to raise over $6,000 during the Walk for the Cure.
