Humming Along for GDP164

It’s time for another CASE the Designer Challenge with the Global Design Project. There are so many places to find inspiration for the projects we make – I love the opportunity to create a project that’s inspired by the art of my fellow team members on GDP. Always a joy! This week we are CASEing one of our founding team members and my bestie from the Down Under, Louise Sharp. What fun!

Here’s a fun photo of Louise and me – we celebrated Stampin’ Up!’s 30th Anniversary in Orlando, Florida together this past weekend:

Brian King and Louise Sharp, Stampin' Up!How cute are we?! My card features two AMAZING sneak peeks at products from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog. We left Orlando with many new products – and I couldn’t wait to play. I will balance new with current over the next two months. Here’s my card for this week’s GDP challenge:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Humming Along Bundle. During one of our general sessions at this past week’s OnStage event, all demonstrators in attendance received the Humming Along Stamp set, which coordinates with a set of dies we didn’t receive. If you love hummingbirds or pretty flowers or gorgeous sentiments, then you are going to wan this set! Here’s a look:Humming Along, Stampin' Up!, 148758There are so many ways to add color and dimension to these images – if you like to watercolor or apply color with Stampin’ Blends, this set is going to make you very happy. There’s a cross-hatch die in this bundle that is a must-have, so I’m happy I’m half-way to collecting this bundle.
  • Monochromatic Peek-a-Boo. My card is entirely created with white, black and Grapefruit Grove. Like Louie’s beauty, I kept a low profile on bold colors. While I DO like coloring, I decided to leave this flower white – it really pops against the Grapefruit Grove backdrop. The sentiment, also from Humming Along, is cropped with a 1-3/4″ Circle punch. I wedged the circle into the cropped flower by gluing the petals over the circle and the stem under. Humming Along, Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, get well cardSince I know you’re going to ask – I can’t yet get my hands on the coordinating dies for this set, so I cropped the flower with my Brother Scan-n-Cut. I much prefer the dies over the electronic cutter, but a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do in the meantime.
  • Gingham Gala. There’s an entire suite in the upcoming Occasions Catalog dedicated to butterflies and gingham prints. It’s amazing! The Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (#148554) comes in a mix of small (like above) and larger patterns. The papers are offered in five Spring colors that are sure to be on your wish list – Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight, Grapefruit Grove, Highland Heather and Lemon Lime Twist. You are going to have so much fun with these papers. Here’s a look at the five colors in this incredible pack of papers:Stampin' Up! 9. I can’t wait to get my hands on some of that Gingham paper and I love the way you showcased it. We used to use Gingham fabric to make a craft called Chicken Scratch by sewing into each check which created an all over floral design. Wish I could explain it better. I’m already thinking about how to create it with card stock. Love your card for today and am excited to hear all about your 30th anniversary “gathering”. SU treats it’s demonstrators that attend amazingly well.
