It’s time for another CASE the Designer Challenge with the Global Design Project. There are so many places to find inspiration for the projects we make – I love the opportunity to create a project that’s inspired by the art of my fellow team members on GDP. Always a joy! This week we are CASEing one of my good friends, Sarah Berry. What fun!
Here’s my soft, sweet card for this week’s challenge:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own. When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all.
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- A Simple CASE. I love the simplicity of Sarah’s card – even though there’s nothing simple about all the stamping she did to build that gorgeous wreath. The wreath is the focal point of this clean card with a sweet, centered sentiment. I knew from the start that I’d create a simple card with a similar layout. I love the white layer on a white backdrop and all the clean space on her card, too, so I knew I would have a large space of white on my card.
I stamped this sentiment in the center of a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock. I cropped the sentiment with a Stitched Shapes Framelits Die and removed the circle. I stamped the bokeh dots and then replaced the circle. I added a Petal Pink base to pull from the Petal Pink spots in the center of the card.
- Two Great Stamp Sets. The sentiment that’s a focal point of my card comes from the Floral Frames stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog, but it’s the soft bokeh dots that really define this card. These dots are a part of the new Beauty Abounds stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog. While I didn’t use the dies that coordinate with either of these stamp sets, both are offered as a bundle. Here’s a look at the Floral Frames Bundle from the 2018 Annual Catalog:
Here’s a look at the Beauty Abounds Bundle from the upcoming 2019 Occasions Catalog:
This set is filled with great sentiments, and the dies give us some amazing, layered butterflies. I worked with these gorgeous bokeh dots (I used a Stampin’ Sponge to add ink to the stamp set for a softer, crisper image) – and look forward to playing with the other elements in this bundle.
- Sweet Colors. I knew I wanted soft, sweet colors for these bokeh dots – and there’s no sweeter combination that pink, green and yellow. If you like this combination of Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam and Daffodil Delight, please save this:
Stamp Sets: Beauty Abounds, Floral Frames Papers: Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam, Thick Whisper White Inks: Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black Accessories: Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Fabulous card today Brian. The color combination is so soft and soothing and makes me think of Easter and babies – I don’t know why. LOL
That’s the exact feel I was going for, Grace! <3 These soft colors are perfect for a baby card or Easter. <3 Thanks!

I knew I loved this bundle at OnStage,( I cried when we saw it), I knew I had to have it! Your sweet and soft card just reinforced that! I llove it! TFS!
Thanks so much, Gloria! I love this set, too, and am glad my card didn’t change your mind about how much you love it. Thanks! <3
I love love love these colorful bubbles ! They look like something out of a FAIRY TALE BOOK !!
I will definitely be using them more – I love them, too. Thanks, Sonny! <3
Brian, I really like what you did with the Beauty Abounds dots. How did were you able to sponge just one color onto the stamp for each of those dots?
Is there a trick to doing this?
It’s simpler than you might think. 🙂 There are two stamps in the set with the bokeh dots. I fully inked the stamps and stamped them in different directions to achieve different looks. Hope that helps! <3
