Hey Love, I Just Adore You

It’s time for another CASE the Designer Challenge with the Global Design Project. There are so many places to find inspiration for the projects we make – I love the opportunity to create a project that’s inspired by the art of my fellow team members on GDP. Today is especially exciting for me – this week we are CASEing design team member AND member of my InKing Royalty Stampin’ Up! team, Shawn deOliveira. What a treat it is to CASE this wonderful, talented friend!

Here’s my card for this week’s challenge:

Hey Love, Incredible Like You, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Valentine's Day cardAnd here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

GDP172When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own.  When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all.

I CASE’d the layout of Shawn’s card and added a sweet critter to the left of my sentiment. To mimic the subtle texture on Shawn’s gorgeous card, I added some clear epoxy hearts to my card.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Two Great Stamp Sets. I have been waiting for the right moment to share this super-sweet, super-fun gator on a card. Since there’s no just-for-him sentiment in the Hey Love stamp set, I reached for another set that has lots of great sayings for Valentine’s Day (or any day of the year). Here’s a look at the cute images and sentiments in Hey Love:Hey Love, Stampin' Up! 148644How cute are they?! The heart behind the gator is cropped with the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies (this particular heart has no stitches) and stamped with “I Just Adore You” from Incredible Like You. I love this set! Just check out all of the amazing sentiments in this set that coordinates with the Incredible Like You Project Kit (although the stamp set stands on its own). • Color and Texture. My gator is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with a mix of Stampin’ Blends – Call Me Clover, Soft Sea Foam, Shaded Spruce, Balmy Blue and Lovely Lipstick. What fun it was to add color to this friendly reptile. Just above the alligator, you can see a collage of hearts. The Epoxy Heart Droplets are pealed right off the sheet the come on and pressed down on the paper. You will want to run your finger over these hearts – they are so smooth and add a subtle texture (unless you color them first with Blends).Hey Love, Incredible Like You, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Valentine's Day card
  • Cool Color Combination. I just love the mix of colors on this card. While the friendly alligator at the center of the card is primarily colored with Call Me Clover, it’s the blend of the other colors on the card that I love the most. The pale green add such a fresh color to these gorgeous pinks. If you like this combination of Lemon Lime Twist, Flirty Flamingo and Lovely Lipstick as much as I do, please save this:Stampin' Up!
