Wonderful Romance for CTS306

Yesterday I shared some fun color suggestions for the All My Love Designer Series Paper – a color guide for traditional red-and-pink Valentine’s Day colors (you can see that post here). Today I want to share a sweet card that focuses on the romantic side of Valentine’s Day (or any day you want to celebrate love). The colors, the image, the sentiment – all three help to build a card that overflows with love and romance. Here’s my card:

I’m so excited that my sketch for CAS(E) This Sketch has been selected as challenge #306. Here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card – I hope you’ll play along with this week’s challenge:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Wonderful Romance. Then sentiment and gorgeous floral image on my card are from the Wonderful Romance stamp set, part of the Wonderful Romance Bundle. You want this stamp set – and if you are getting the set, then you’ll also want to amazing dies that coordinate. Here’s a look at the Wonderful Romance Bundle: Wonderful Romance Bundle, Stampin' Up! 150592This bundle is the headliner for a suite of gorgeous, sweet products. • Sponging the Background. The Mossy Meadow and Petal Pink stripes in the background of my card are applied with Stampin’ Sponges. Here’s a closer look at the front of this card: Wonderful Romance, Stampin' Up!, Brian King CTS306I used Post-It Notes Tape to build a border for the strip on my card. I applied a light amount of ink, starting with small circles and finishing with solid back-and-forth swipes: How to sponge stripes on a card, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingLook how clean the line is when I peal back the tape: How to sponge stripes on a card, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI positioned new strips of tape to build on the layers for this card front. I find that the edges of the cardstock hold more ink than the middle of the page, so I always cut my paper a little wider than necessary and then trim the edges when I’m done sponging. • Romantic Color Combination. Although my card does not feature any of the gorgeous papers or vellum from the Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper, I pulled inspiration for my colors straight from this pack of papers. Very Vanilla is a beautiful base for the softest pink and richest green – and together they are gorgeous.
