Warm colors and a touch of nature – that’s what I set out to embrace when I made a get well card for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge by my friend, Donna Mikasa, that inspired my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Two Stamps. My simple card features two stamp sets from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog – the image from the Just Because Host Set (use your Stampin’ Rewards on an order over $150 to purchase this set for $13) and a sentiment from the Humming Along stamp set. here’s a look at the Just Because Host stamp set: I love the sentiment – “Hope you feel better really soon.” Sending hopes and prayers for a speedy recovery seems less harsh than the “demand” that someone “get well soon.” I pulled the sentiment from the Humming Along stamp set:
- Stampin’ Blends. I love my Stampin’ Blends – the alcohol markers allow us to artistically blend colors or just color with a solid application. I used Mossy Meadow and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends to color the potted plant on my card. I colored 3/4 of each leaf (from the tip to the base) with the Light Mossy Meadow marker. I then colored a small portion of the base with the Dark Mossy Meadow marker and then pulled the colors together again with the Light Mossy Meadow Marker. There are so many ways to blend and find a light source – I just color. I didn’t blend the pot that holds the plant – I just alternated each of the elements of the pop with the different shades. If you’d like to see all of the current Stampin’ Blends available, click here:
- Earthy Colors. The greens on this card are pulled from the gorgeous page from Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper. I love these leaves – such a gorgeous print. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper:While the pack of papers doesn’t include Crumb cake, it just makes sense to pair with these greens. If you like this combination of Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake and Mossy Meadow, please save this:
Stamp Sets: Just Because Host Set, Humming Along Papers: Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper, Mossy Meadow, Crumb Cake, Thick Whisper White Inks: Tuxedo Black Memento, Stampin’ Blends (Mossy Meadow, Crumb Cake) Accessories: Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the CASE This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Oh Brian, this card will instantly make the recipient feel amazingly better, what a gorgeous combination of colors and what a sweet, adorable image, colored beautifully.
The layering of the DSP and cardstock is, as always, perfect for showcasing your stamped image.
Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much, Maria! I always feel like a plant is more practical than cut flowers – and both can be as uplifting. So glad you like my card – I always appreciate your kind comments. ♥
Very elegant! I love that plant image!
Thanks, Linda! The plant seemed a little odd to me at first, but I’ve warmed up to it. So happy you like it! ♥
The perfect green plant that lives forever and will brighten someone’s day. Love it mixed with the leaf pattern of the designer series paper!
Thanks so much, Mary! I prefer a plant to flowers for that very reason. So glad you like the card. Always wonderful to hear from you!
If I were sick, I would feel better just looking at that card! Have to confess, I’d overlooked that Host set. Nice!
Thanks so much, Dianne! I was a bit “eh?” about this plant but LOVE how it pairs with this paper. Glad you like it! ♥
Beautiful my friend. How do you like your chilly weather. I am lovin this cooler weather, but our pipes were frozen this am, just now getting water, hmmmm we were at 22 degrees. Well since i spend almost half my year in Alaska, you know i oive the cooler weather. Stay warm, TFS : – )
Thanks so much, Penny! It’s in the 20’s here, too, but that won’t last long. We’ve cut off our outside pipes to prevent overnight freezing. Stay warm! ♥
This card will make the recipient know you care and will begin to feel better right away! Love your coloring and the DSP with the plant. Have a great day.
Thanks, Hilda! I was so happy to pair this plant with this background paper – just what I wanted! Glad you like it! ♥
Beautiful coloring and perfect layering of paper and color!
Thanks so much, my friend! This was a simple card to design – happy with how it turned out. ♥
Stunning! My new favorite card of yours. The color combo is also a favorite of mine. That sentiment is perfect and love your decision to use it. Thanks for the explanation for coloring those gorgeous leaves. I see I need to break open another piggy bank to get a couple more sets. In other words I love this card and will be CASEing it.
Thanks so much for your comments, Chris! So happy you like the card. Always love to hear from you and am happy to inspire you to create. ♥
You hit the nail on the head with this week’s sketch challenge. This card will definitely lift the spirits of the recipient. Your layout, choice of colors, and nature theme is spot-on.
