Needle & Thread for CAS(E) This Sketch

There’s a sweet, simple sketch challenge this week at CAS(E) This Sketch that inspired me to make a card that I’ve been thinking about for a while. My simple card combines the Needle & Thread Bundle with the Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper (that I picked up in November). It’s about time, right?! Here’s my notecard-sized card:

  • Needle & Thread. My sweet and simple card is built with simple layers of cardstock and Designer Series Paper. Three products from the Needlepoint Nook Suite of products are also showcased on this sweet, simple card. “People like you make the world a better place” – stamped with the Needle & Thread stamp set – is such a great sentiment for almost any occasion (thank you, celebrate you, birthday). Two of the dies from the coordinating Needlepoint Elements Framelits Dies give great texture to this card. Here’s a look at the Needle & Thread Bundle:  Needle & Thread Bundle, Stampin' Up! 150626The little strip of Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper informs the colors I used on my card base and gives my card a sweet, stitched, colorful pattern. • Texture. I want to give you a closer look at the focal panel of my card so you can see both stitching elements that add great texture to this sweet card:Needle & Thread Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingAfter I stamped the sentiment with Highland Heather ink, I centered the stitched die from the Needlepoint Elements Framelits Dies over top and ran it through the Big Shot Surprise! It didn’t crop out the shape – only added the stitching. It lined up perfectly with the Pretty Label Punch. Oh, the options! The large, stitched die that spreads across this panel is also created with a die from this set of dies. Such a lovely element!
  • Coordinated Envelope. I love to decorate the flap of my envelope with a small panel of Designer Series Paper that coordinates with my card. Since there’s just a touch of this floral paper on my card front, it’s even more exciting to offer a large panel of it on the envelope. Don’t you think it gives the recipient a fun peek at what’s inside?Needle & Thread Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  1. This set was not on my wish list. You may have changed my mind Brian!

  2. Thinking I might have made a mistake not getting this bundle. Thanks (I think)!!!!

  3. LOVE all the stitching. Something else to add to my list! Great card!

  4. I love that stitched element in the background! Pretty card!

  5. You nailed it! AND Brian . . . they had you in mind when they created this sentiment.

  6. I adore how that stitching peeks from behind. Beautiful color and pattern choices!

  7. Oh boy Brian! I had no interest in this set until I saw your card today. When I had looked at the framelits in the catalog I couldn’t figure out what framelit went with what stamp so I said “not for me”. Now you’ve gone and made me put the stamp set and framelit’s on my “wish” list. Boy you are a big influence on my budget! LOL

    • Did you use a piercing tool to make holes in the background stitched stamp design? Or did just stamp the stitched design and leave it be? Awesome card…. Definitely changed my thoughts and wish list.

    • Oh, Grace, my quilting friend. I’m surprised that this wasn’t one of the first bundles you’d fall in love with. It’s wonderful! I love these stitching elements – and I know you’d love them, too. ♥

  8. This is such a pretty card, Brian. Great choice of DSP and the Highland Heather, too! I can almost smell the Spring flowers. I do love the “needlepoint” effect ?

  9. I love the stitched embossing look!

  10. Great card! I love how the stitched element mimics the sketch – a design element I missed entirely! (Must be my new glasses)! These colors are a fabulous combination!

    • Thanks so much, Jen! Sometimes I ignore elements in a sketch when I don’t know how to use them. I saw this one (zoomed in to study the sketch) and know exactly what I wanted to do. I LOVE what you made with the sketch! Always gorgeous! Glad you like the colors I used! ♥

  11. Beautiful card…in purple!

  12. I just love this card and I may have my ladies make it next week (I would give you full credit – I have told them all about you LOL!). Is this a normal 4.25”x5.5” card? It looks narrower to me – maybe it’s just an illusion. I could figure it out if I had the DSP with me, but I’m in Florida? Thank you for all you do!
